Wow, really! there's one going up... I'm so excited. Thanks for letting us know.
I knew there was one going up, but it was delayed, it was suppose to close in November. I looked for the house last month but I can not find Kelman Court, is it on the West side of Thompson Rd?

Hi justagirl,

yes it is on the west side. Just take louis St. laurent as far as you can on the new sie, turn right, drive a little ways and you'll see the street sign for Kelman Court and the house is about 3/4 of the way around the street- Lot 23. As far as I know milton_bound's home is scheduled to close in November but he hasn't been around in months so i'm not sure if there is a delay or not.

Thank you buttafly77, I had a hard time finding the street last time I went by that area. Now I know where it is, I will go see it very soon.
I am very curious to see the kitchen layout ( even without cabinets. I also want to see if a second barrel arch will look OK from family to dining room.
Are you getting the alternative kitchen? I am, I have had the sink in the Island in my pass house, I love that feature. I believe your house closed 6 months before ours, you will have to keep me updated on your interior choices. I am very curious to see what other people pick, hoping it will help make my selections easier. (if that's possible) LOL

Hi justagirl, Buttafly77, et al.

As Buttafly77 said, it really has been a while since I've been here, and what do you know I come back today and you are talking about my house...perhaps I should pay a little more attention :D

We went by yesterday and they were working on the second floor. First floor is completely framed. We close in late Nov. The way we go to the house is south on Thompson, turn right at Hepburn, at the end, Yates, go left, and take the first Kelman Crt on the left. The Juneberry on lot 23 is on the left side in the corner at the end, just as the street turns right.

Buttafly77, feel free to take pics, or even go in should you feel the urge. justagirl, we have the alternate kitchen so also feel free to stop by if you want to see how the layout looks.

The one thing that we've noticed so far is that according to all the plans we have there should be another window on the back of the house, between the back door and the the big window in the breakfast area. Looks like they may have left that one out...will have to look into that. I think we should have the framing walk through in the next couple of weeks so we'll need to go through it in good detail.

mb.

Hey milton_bound nice to see you back here! Your house is looking GREAT! It's very exciting isn't it?

I was wondering if you wouldn't mind posting or emailing some pricing informaiton from your appointment? I don't think anyone here has gotten their package yet or pricing info and inquiring minds are dying to know :D Only if you don't mind sharing though.

Can you tell us what upgrades you were able to do? We also did the alternate kitchen layout. Were you able to delete the jack and jill bathroom doors to rooms 3 and 4? Who is your cabinet supplier? Did you get a cold cellar? Yes I know I have a million questions. lol

Any help or ideas would be so much appreciated though!

hey Buttafly77,

thank you...we are very excited, yes indeed!

don't mind sharing at all. i'll pm you my e-mail. shoot me an e-mail with all your questions...i'll do my best to answer based on our experience.

yes we were able to delete the 2 doors to the bathroom. no issue there. with respect to doors, we were also able to reverse the swing of the laundry room door so that is opens to the laundry tub...not the washer. cabinet supplier is canac. didn't get the cold cellar. wanted to, but it was too expensive. decided to put that $ elsewhere.

Hi milton_bound,

I dropped by your house on Friday and it looks great!! How exiting to see a real live Juneberry going up, finally.

Can you share some details re. what they let you do for the kitchen? Were you able to move the pantry to where the chef's desk was, did you end up moving the fridge to the side wall; any other kitchen design changes you made? Also did they let you move the door to the 'hers' walk-in closet?

Thanks milton_bound and congrats on the house progress!

hi everyone... its us "londoners" we have been unable to log in for the past few months, we worked on it with Rick too but finally gave up and just registered again.

We also dropped by to see the first ever juneberry home today and it's looking really good!

milton_bound any info you can give would be great as miltonLeo mentioned. We are also planning on replacing the chef's desk with a pantry and would like to know if this is a possibility.

ps. very excited and very jealous you will be moving in 2 months time. We still have a long wait (oct 09).

hi,

responses to a few questions posed to us:

-we didn't end up doing anything to the kitchen. when we posted our list of wants for the kitchen way back when, we didn't even know about the alternate kitchen plan. that alternate layout pretty much took care of what we wanted to do and rendered some of it pointless. e.g. we wanted to change the chefs desk into a pantry, but the alternate kitchen has so much pantry already that we didn't bother.

-we let the door to the her walkin closet slide. we were so overwhelmed with all the other changes and options that we just left it. never bothered to ask our DC about it.

update on the build progress:
-there is now a roof (not shingled last we were there on saturday)
-we have windows
-front porch is framed and poured
-i noted earlier that we were missing the window between the back door and the large window in the breakfast area. spoke with annie today, who spoke with the builder dude. they will apparently be adding that window. not sure why it wasn't there in the first place...must have been overlooked.

sorry no pictures.

hope all the info in this post and the one just prior helps.

mb

Here a few "little" additions, I want to add to my home, you might want to consider.

* Add an extra hose bib near the front of your home, this enables watering the front gardens with ease also gives you and extra bib to set up a sprinkler system.
* Delete front door light and install a pot light, gives an even overall light and makes it easy to add more pot lights to front porch after close.
* Install a marble seat in the shower.
* Install extra light box over soaker tub in master en suit, this is to hang small chandelier. Add an extra switch so you can dim it.
*Add lights in coat closets
*Add ceiling light in den
*Delete bulk heads
*Delete 3" lip on regular counter top, this allows you to install back splash flush with counter top.
*Extra lighting Mattamy never puts enough lights.
*Do gas line for BBQ after close, this enables you to chose the location. Sometimes the builder puts it in awkward places for patio's.
*If you buy AC be sure you know where they are installing them. lately they have been installing them in the back yard. They are very noisy and hard to hide. Best place is on side of home as far away from windows as possible.
*Central Vac rough into garage not basement.
*Faux doors on front of kitchen Island cabinets.
*Two extra outside light on back of house
*Add wall outlet that will turn lamps on beside lamps and another switch to turn the lamps off above nite stands.
*Add wall outlets where your family room lamps would be with additional switch to turn on lamps. This allows lamps to be turned on when entering/exiting the room
*If you choose the den add floor outlet under your desk to plug computer into.
* be sure the chandelier socket is re-enforced if you are planing to install a heavy one.
If anyone has any more extra "little" helpful tips please post them I am all about making life simple. Thanks

Good tips justagirl, we hadn't thought of a capped light over the tub and we just LOVE the idea of putting a small chandelier there!

Here are some other things on our wish list:

* reverse door swing in laundry room: from milton_bound's list above, otherwise we'd have to shut the door to use the washing machine.
* add flip-out tray in front of sink, to keep sponges and cloths off the island.
* add extra outlet on side wall of garage (for power tools etc)
* add outlet to back side of island (for sitting with a laptop)
* delete ceramic accessories in bathrooms
* wall sconces on each side of window seat instead of the shelving (we just think it would look cool plus add some extra light to read by)
* counter-height vanity in ensuite
* extra outlet for ensuite vanity (his and hers)
* extra bank of drawers in ensuite vanity (his and hers)
