They wanted to buy a Sunflower on a 50' lot from what I remembered. We never used our back yard either in our current house, because it was too small for a deck and we lived across from a pond\wooded lot.

What? I can't believe lot #7 ended up falling through ... that's the lot Jay and I had wanted!

Does anyone know when we get to choose our brick colours?

Tammy

I was told in the new year 6-8 months from closing...I would pay them a visit and see if you can switch lots.

Tam&Jay, I'd definitely go into the sales office and explain what happened and ask to switch lots.

hold on Tam&Jay, don't rush into any big decisions! we like having you guys on our right and the romanians on our left! lol

if you were able to switch, you think you would get it for the original release price?

btw i really like the stats that Angelo posted, making me focus on "resale" upgrades ... not that we're planning on buying and flipping.

Looks like we are the only ones that stayed with the 8 foot ceilings upstairs. I hope that after seeing all of your high ceilings, we won't regret it too much!

Also just wanted to let everyone know that we got a final quote for granite counters from Natural stone city in Kitchener, $4500 + GST. The quote is for the alternate kitchen layout for the Primrose (see drawing below for kitchen size). Just wanted to share in case anyone is exploring this option.
Image

Kitchen & Servery Room

Based on the measurements you gave me
the estimate is $4200 + gst for 1 1/4 thick granite
standard color and standard edge.

For ogee edge add $630 + gst

Bathroom Counters
The estimate is $480 + gst (on half slabs)
for 1 1/4 thick granite with standard edge.

Granite can and is recommend for bathrooms.
Don't use marble if you don't have to.

This includes installation, faucet holes, the sink
cutout for undermount sink, the mounting of the sink
(not the plumbing) and 4" backsplash
for bathroom.

I would check with Mattamy first. They quoted me $6000 for Quartz and I know our Island is longer.

You're right about the Quartz, seems like Mattamy has decent pricing on it. Quartz is typically more expensive than granite too so even more reason to go with Mattamy on this one... We are going to go to the Design Centre tomorrow to see how much it would be for our home.

So we went into a Primrose today and saw the 9 ft ceilings upstairs....loved them. Then went into another Primrose with the 8 foot ceilings upstairs, and it looked decent, not as grand, but looked fine. Its a tough one but I think we will stick with the 8 ft. Ahhh too many decisions to make!

Go for the 9's!

Okay, opinions needed.
We have the Juneberry. In the upstairs, there is a Jack and Jill bathroom so there are doors from two of the bedrooms going to the bathroom and there is a main door from the hallway. I don't like the doors from the bedrooms as I think the kids can use the main hallway door and one of those bedrooms will probably be a guest room anyway and it really limits the wall space in the bedrooms and even the bathroom. Asked Mattamy, they are charging $190 per door to get rid of them. (probably cheaper for them to not have the doors but anyway......)
Think we'd be better off just keeping the doors and leaving them locked and just put furniture in front of them. Will it decrease the value of the home if we remove the doors? (not that we are planning to sell for many years!)

I prefer them. More of a conveinence thing. And most new house have doors leading into the bathrooms. I wouldn't take them out. Although, you should do what is best for your family. You can always put furniture in front of the doors and just use the main door.

hey Andrea,
The Juneberry I went into had both doors removed...I think they said that one of the doors opens into the tub which they felt was in an awkward location. However its all a matter of convenience for you. And if you think that there's too many doors and they would get in the way, plus its a matter of safety, then have them removed. Otherwise I would keep them. Still I think its ridiculous that they are charging you to remove them!
Good luck!

Looks like we are neighbours now! We switched to lot 7 from 8 at the original price.

It was not pleasant resigning the entire agreement with all 3 kids!

After all #7 was our first pick at lots! Sorry Sal & Christine as we will have to walk an additional 43' to hook up.

Jason former lot #8

lol all good Jay! i'm happy you guys got the lot you initially wanted and for the original price! that's great! hmmmm wonder who's taking #8? and probably with the increased price!

hey guys,
Went by the Mattamy office today. It was bustling with activity! Saw that lot # 8 is now open (congrats Tammy & Jay on getting lot # 7). Also while we were there lot # 20 got sold to a large family...I think they were going with the Hazelnut....
We also reconsidered on the 2nd floor ceilings and decided to go with the 9 ft option. It wasn't initally in our budget but we figured it will open up the upstairs a bit more...I guess now Alex will just have to sell more chocolate haha
Hopefully everyone is enjoying this beautiful day. We look forward to the get together in a couple of weeks. Did we decide on a time? Thank you Amy for getting it organized!!!

yay Tam & Jay. We're across the street neighbours :)
Welcome to the neighbourhood, Allison & Jason!

Yay for 9' celings, Diana & Alex. Way to give in to neighbour pressure! Oliver just explained to me about the selling chocolate thing. I thought Alex was going door to door selling those big choco bars to pay for your house! mmmmm chocolate.

As for the bathroom doors? I'm still undecided. I really think they are awkwardly placed, there are too many of them and it's going to cause havoc when the kids get older with them running through. And who can remember to lock all 3 bathroom doors if you want privacy?

So okay....Saturday, November 7th seems to be the best date for most people. Since some will be brining children, shall we say, 5:00? 5:30pm?

Anyone prefer to be on an email list in discussing plans to get together, etc? I'm wondering how much info. to post here for anyone to read (i.e. future address, children's ages, school and where I'm going to be in two weeks....) If you'd rather be updated via email or evite, just send me a pm with your email address and I'll make it happen.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Amy~
