This year was better than last year but was still sad.

Last year we had 4 kidlets
This year 40-50 (4 of whom did not have costumes)

We expected a lot more so were giving out handfuls of candy towards the latter half of the night.

We had 15 in total - only one kid wasn't in costume, he was in with a group of 5 kids, aged between about 2 and 5, and was in a snowsuit, coughing and looked pretty miserable, and the moms looked pretty frazzled, so he still got candy.

We had a group of 3 brothers who were classic "Revenge of the Nerds"...liked the originality :)

My husband was upstairs calling down a heads up "group approaching", and "whoops - Winnie the Pooh fell down - looks like that's the end of Pooh's night!"

What we noticed is that although we had the porch and indoor lights on, many groups skipped our house because we did not have any Halloween-specific decorations up.

We had roughly 70 or so kids come by. Last year on Yates we had over 100 kids so the total was a bit down, but were on Arthurs Way and the sidewalk is on the other side so most kids just stuck with the sidewalk route.

Anthony was looking forward to going out with his friend from class but hes been sick the last week and didnt go out. The weather was nothing like last year, as we were in golf shirts and light jackets...last night was a bit on the cool windy side.

Most of the kids seemed done by 830 or so.

We had maybe 30 or so, and our son was one without a costume ... I had made him a space man outfit which lasted about 20 minutes then fell apart. Will go with store bought next year :(

I decided to decorate for halloween since I thought there were a ton of kids in the neighbourhood. I even had spooky music playing from my upstairs windows. I don't have children but have alot of neighbours that have kids. I expected at least 100 kids just based on the number of kids that play in the park at the base of Scott blvd. I would say I had about 51 kids this year. Very surprising and a bit disappointing. They started on the dot of 6pm and finished around 9:30pm. I think it will be different next year when the community is a bit more finished.

This is our first year in this neighbourhood. We weren't expecting hundreds, but definitely more than 20...
We tried to take our three-year-old son trick-or-treating. He refused to wear his spider-man costume, so we endedup staying home.

We don't have kids yet, but I am honestly looking forward to moving to Milton and start a family where our kids can really enjoy Halloween. We live in Oakville right now and the 3+ years we have been here we average maybe 4-8 kids max. This year we went to Pickering to trick or treat with my wife's 4 year old sister (20 years apart). It was awesome, I started to forget how much fun Halloween was.

Jenniferk - Don't give up to quick on making an outfit, when I was growing up my mom made me a teenage mutant ninja turtle shell and costume for my Leonardo mask and it was a million times better then any store bought costume. And trust me my mom never touched a sewing machine :) I know you feel bad for your son, just let him play in it for a few hours next year to work it in :)

Last year 5 or 6 kids...this year ZERO! Very strange...
I also find it strange that people don't hand out candy yet they will still send their kids out to trick or treat...

We had about 65 as well... we weren't sure what to expect since we are still in a construction area...

Lucky (or unlucky) for us we have a lot of leftovers, too. I noticed kids without costumes too... what is with that?! If they were older I would have questioned it but I guess the parents didn't want them to participate in that part...

Hey *I* dressed up... so should the kids! :)

Jennifer - I just want to echo what the others said... a mother's work is very much appreciated even when it doesn't go as planned :) This year, my husband, my children and I recycled some of MY MOM's old work... we have 2 boxes full of costumes she has made for various people over the years. It was so fun to wear them all again! Though I haven't the courage to get one of my kids to wear the skunk costume she made me wear one year... homemade, and cute... but I can remember the embarrassment of it to this day! ;)
