Dear people.

rules are laid down to be followed. Must most of you deliberatley break them?

I use the Go Transit to and From work. I park my car in the designated area provided by Go Transit. I have been picked up from the Go Station by my Wife and i make sure i tell her to come into the Go Transit pick up area.

Yesterday after i got off the train and into the car, i came round the Loblaws where the Milton transit and Go Buses Exit. At the Traffic Lights. Some guy in a White Lincon decides he wants to start moving as he was pick his wife up who had just come off the train, nearly hits me in the process, and just for the record it has happened quite a few times.

He was waiting in a no parking zone.........NO PARKING. did he not see the sign. He was in t wrong and yet he wanted to call the police.

Really annoying........

You should have let him call the police. He would have been told off and hopefully ticketed.

You can partially blame the Go Transit for the crappy entrance/exits at the Milton Go station.

Take the bus! I've been taking the bus for over 6 months now and don't even want to think about driving to/from the Go station anymore.

@ annie.........i did go home and call halton police to see if tehy could get a patrol car out there. No was the answer. Private property. I can call the city and ask an Enforcmment officer to go there.

@ Petah...i take the bus during school time. The car is at home during summer time as my wife is a teacher. so i get the extra half an hour sleep. Next week ill be back on the bus.

You're 100% right.
Actually, this is a NO STOPPING zone, which make it even worse.

When I used to do the go train thing, every day, there would be 7-10 cars lined up in the No Stopping zone, blocking the only through lane since the left lane in intended for people turning into the parking lot.

Here's an example of how the current council fails...

1)people wait there causing dangerous situations for pedestrians and other dirvers
2) public complains to council saaying we need no stopping signs
3) council reviews and agrees
4)no stopping signs go up
5) people ignore them and the area is never monitored, an dthe original dangers are still there, years later.

Put cops there for a week straight, and it'll stop for months, guaranteed.

@ Fred D

called city of milton.......apparantly the Police can patrol there and ticket anyone.

My problem wasnt the fact that he was there even though he shouldnt have been there. He swore at me and nearly hit my car. Dont get me wrong but seriously rules are there for a reason

I hear you. This ALWAYS happens and is really annoying. There are two lanes where they are parked, but the one lane on the left, is a left only turn lane. Therefore you need to pass, and then merge again in the middle of the intersection.

i have an idea............all of us law abiding citzens should barracade all the ignorant people with our cars............park right infront of them so that they cant get out anywhere. That might teache them a lesson.

As for parking in the loblaws area..........i have no sympathy for anyone. It is just like people parking in the disabled parking or baby parking and yet they are not disabled and have children that dont require car seats?????

i should stop cause probably nothing is going to happen.

There is another side of the story as well.

Seems when ever the GO train arrives and the passengers getting off all seem to J-walk at once across to the Loblaws parking lot.

You can't blame cars who are waiting in the no stopping zone if the pedestrians themselves don't care and J-walk across the road.

J-walkers are like moving targets
Like that old Nintendo Game ... Duck hunt haha

I take GO everyday. I park in the GO parking lot. I am eager to leave at the end of the day and I am ANNOYED at all the illegally stopped people in the "no stopping" zone.

What I do is drive in the left lane (the "turning" lane), do not let any of the "stoppers" in when they try and dart in front of me because the way I see it, they're in the wrong so they can wait. Then I drive on through....

I'm glad someone finally posted about it, because it's been driving me bonkers since I started taking GO in February...

I've seen GO parking enforcement there ONCE and it was all clear...and that has been the one and only time it was not stressful leaving GO parking lot.

People parking on the side wouldn't be so dangerous if people obeyed the Superstore sign. Only 2 hour parking.
Why is there such a huge rush of people crossing at the stop light.
Because they are also not following the rules.
it kind of works both ways.

I agree, people shouldn't be running across the street to their parked cars, OR kiss-n-ride pickups in the Loblaws parking lot, BUT:

FOR THE RECORD.. Mayor Krantz and the town of Milton officially announced that once the No Stopping signs went up on the street, that Drop Offs and Pick Ups should occur IN the Loblaws lot across the street to maintain the street's safety. I was at this public meeting when it was announced. I wonder what Loblaws would have to say about that? Shows how disconnected our mayor is on the GO issue. COLIN - any update or change in position from Council on this?

If the Superstore would enforce the "3 hour - Customer Only" parking in its lot then the problem would solve it self.

Alternatively they could charge people for parking there for the day, again problem solved.

Actually, no it wouldn't, since we're talking specifically about the people getting picked up by spouses, friends, etc.
The walkers crossing to their wrongly parked cars was the secondary discussion.
The point was that the kiss-n-ride folks should NOT be waiting on the street in front of the No Stopping signs since they are a traffic hazard, NOR should they be waiting in the Superstore lot since it is Superstore's lot, no GO's.

So what's the problem? The Kiss'n'ride area provided by GO is too small, and bottlenecks with other parking lot exits into one lane, causing people to have to wait 5, 10, 15 min to get out of the lot at the worst of times. First time I ever used the kiss'n'ride, my wife picked me up, being a rookie she used the proper section, and we didn't get out and south on Thompson until the next train arrived - that was before Drew Ctr opened, and before the underpass was built, but that hasn't totally resolved. I would never, EVER stop on Drew Center, but I understand what is driving people to do it.
I always honked at these people when I drove by - to show where I stood on the safety issue. hehe

Perhaps the town and GO should be the ones discussing inadequate GO Kiss'n'Ride areas, causing danger to citizens??
