I moved from East to West Milton and already had Cogeco. I wasn't sure that I'd get the free 3 months being an existing customer. I thought I'd have to concoct this elaborate scheme to get the free install and free 3 months. No, just called the new builder line, talked to Nicole (I think) and was straight up and got it all free.

Amabelle - so are you with Cogeco now and they waived the fee for when you move? We got charged the fee but were already set up with them at our previous place so I want to call them for my money back if that is the case.

Just a heads up again for anyone looking for gas line hook up for stove, BBQ, etc. or water line to the fridge, A/C, or anything similar, we have a great certified professional who has done all of these things for us for incredible prices. He's coming to help hook up all our appliances on our move in day and I'm sure he'd be happy to help anyone else out.

Had our PDI today. No real big issues other than cosmetics. One thing they did advise is that the warranty on the garage door is voided if you install a GDO. They recommended waiting to install the GDO after the 30 day PDI.

Also, spoke to our lawyer and he advised us that we will NOT be billed for developmental charges. Good news for everyone. :P

I called today and they credited me my installation charge and I will get the 3 months free on my services....$600 savings, not too bad :D

Totalpkg- did Michael Morgans office call you for an appointment prior to closing or did you have to call them? How long was the appointment?

Happy Halloween Coombsters:)

No we had to drop some documents off. So they couldn't give us our closing total, but we set up a closing appointment for next week. They will call you once they receive all the closing documents required.

Yay for your PDI, #1! Ours is on Wednesday. Any recommendations of anything that we should look out for that we might not think of?

I heard you were by the house today, A&A. I was there yesterday for the first time in over a week and WHOOHOO our cabinets and lights were all in. And I'm really happy with how everything looks. I think it is better than i expected. I was having a hard time picturing everything together. I can't wait and can't believe we close in a week and a half!

I'm thinking how crazy it is going to be living in the construction zone, though!

Shouldn't be too bad, by the time you all move in November, only the firebreak homes will remain. Of course there is the paving of the streets etc...but not sure what season the paving of the road will occur? Spring/Summer?

Thanks A. That's too bad that your house is locked. But move in is so close now! I really want to see yours! Why?HOw? did your fireplace get smashed?
We have our PDI on Wednesday. Anyone who had theirs already have any tips?
I really feel like I'm forgetting something that we are supposed to be doing.
I can't believe we will be living on the street in less than 2 weeks!

For the PDI, all I can say is check everything. We found 2 bathtubs that had low water pressure. Found some shower faucets not siliconed. Any cosmetics mark it with green tape...especially the gouges or dents or un even walls. mark everything. I will guarantee you will have tonnes of green tape all over the house for the 30 day for cosmetics, because 08:30 and we were done at 12:15...

I couldn't agree, when we bought our first place, it was just a small 2 bedroom condo, and there were many defects....

Are the site supersvisors (Andrew/Joe) involved with the PDI?

Mostly Andrea. Our carpenter, Mauro, was their as well fixing stuff as we went along. Andrew and Dan were their at the start but left.

I went by the site this morning and our house is pretty much ready to go other than cosmetics. Our staircase was fixed, counter tops installed, and nosing fixed as well. We close this week

No. The builder is entitled. I've asked Mattamy about this a while back.
Sucks doesn't it? What can you do. :?

Well.. they price the house based on this. In fact its typically written into the contract that if you fail to be eligible for the rebate, then you are on the hook to reimburse the builder.

One thing I gotta say positive about house purchases, at least the price you pay is for the most part what you pay (yes, there is land transfer and stuff), but fortunately its not advertised cost + 13% HST

Yikes!

How does someone become ineligible for the rebate? Please elaborate.

Hey Coombsters!

Is there a Cogeco representative in Milton, similar to what Bell has?

Just wanted to know prior to making a final decision on choosing our provider. Just wanted to get further clarity on the cable, phone and internet packages they offer for new moves.

Thanks in advance!
