Okay, I made some progress on the central vacs. First of all, please do your research on the vaccuums out there. Doing my own research I think Drainvac is an excellent central vac. They are Canadian made out of Quebec, they use German made motors, they have the largest capacity on the market, they use the best technology right now and they are quiet. They also use an excellent filter made with Silverclear

I was able to find a really good group buy deal on the Drainvac units through a company that deals with mostly builders. The deal goes as follows;

MAIN UNIT:
Drainvac - 500 air watts - 2PR9923-C - 9 gal/41L capacity, 73 db - $394.25 - Recommended for up to 3500sq ft.

Drainvac - 600 air watts - 2PR9938-C - 9 gal/41L capacity, 73 db - $475 - Recommended for up to 5000sq ft.

Drainvac - 700 air watts - 2G20028-C/CM - 9 gal/41L capacity, 58 db - $612.75 - Recommended for 6500 sqft.

Electrical package - 30' crushproof hose, 3 way switch, 7 piece floor kit, 2 telescopic wands, 1 powerhead, wall mount for hose - $304

Hose cover - $31.35

Car kit - 30' crushproof hose, 3 piece kit, wall mount for hose - $44.65

Installation - $228

Not sure on whether delivery will be included, but you will have to add HST to the prices above.

I would recommend the 500 watt for anyone 2000 sq ft and under, the 600 watt for anyone 3200 sq ft and under and the 700 watt for anyone over 3200 sq ft or anyone that wants a really quiet unit.

So you can build your package any way you like. The main thing here is the purchase of the main unit. If we get 10+ purchases of the main unit the price gets better. These prices are in Canadian dollars.

Here is more information:
Central Vacuum types

Drain Vac US pricing

Central Vacuum sizing

Anyways, let me know guys.

Please keep me posted...

Just curious, but has everyone installed their garage door openers? If so, what feedback if any on them?

Personally, I think its quieter than anything out there. I also seen one side by side with the Mattamy opener, and the Sommer one is quieter than the Mattamy sold GDO. I'm pretty happy with the openers so far.

Also if you need the GDO installed let me know.

Hey all!
Anyone been skating on the pond along the trail behind Gooch?
I've seen it cleared a few times and took the boys to see it on the weekend (only a small area was cleared then). Looks like fun...maybe a neighbourhood skating party is in order? (although I don't skate, I'll happily be in my boots and throwing snowballs from the sidelines)

Speaking of Mr. Dress Up, I heard last week that the piano composer who plays the theme song of Mr. DressUp died too. :(

I loved Mr. Dress Up as a kid. You guys all live on a cool street. 8)

I know I am not part of this thread in anyway, but I just wanted to say.... that Totalpkg you have done a GREAT job on making this thread. Because from the day I saw this thread I payed close attention to it from the 1st page to the very last page. I loved how the first page was all about buying the home you have waited for and NOW your living on a street with neighbors you talked with online! I loved how you all disscused everything about your home, it was very interesting.

I just basically wanted to say this is one fantastic thread!

Hello Neighbours!

Sunny and Geeta here! We have finally moved in and things are looking good! Its been very cold lately, but we will try to stay in touch!

Hey Dean! that was classic when I was moving in the mattress through the front door...and you pulled up....I just totally ignored my buddies and went to say hi...they weren't too happy about that....lol
