Okay what day is good for everyone to have a street barbque? It will be a potluck, BYOB and chairs. I would suggest This Sunday, but the weather is not looking good for that day.

What about the weekend of Sept 17/18? That would give everyone's two weeks notice. We can then start spreading the word...

Wanted to let everyone know that Taylor's Nursery at Main St and 5th line is having a 30% off tree sale this weekend. Their prices are really good...almost half of what these trees go for a Van Dongens. Its a 2 year warranty but we bought the Mykes stuff that extends the warranty to 5 years, can't go wrong! We bought 5 trees - superform maple, royal red maple, river birch, and pyramidal english oak. They will come and plant for us in several weeks time. It will be nice to get some shade and privacy in our yards...the maples are already over 15 feet tall and with pretty solid trunks.

May I ask how much the trees cost you and are they charging a lot for the planting?

Trees vary in price depending on size. You can start as low as $150 for a 10 foot maple up to $350 for the more mature 15 ft ones. Tree planting cost is based on tree size with the first tree (for a mature one) being $210 or so and then is goes down to $175 for each additional one. The smaller trees are about $130 to plant (can't remember the exact cost off the top of my head). They will do everything for you....digging, bringing the soil, planting, staking, taking away the soil.

We are in for the 18th as well. We have a folding table that we can bring out for the food. Will we set up by the woodlot?
If someone will bring out their BBQ out front, then I can pick up some nice sausages from the Polish store. Otherwise we will bring something that does not require cooking.

We could setup on the street in front of the woodlot. In any case I think Sal has a portable BBQ. Also, how will we spread the word on the street party?

Here's the list so far:
- A&A - perogies - salad
- Dilex - Polish sauw-siege - 1 table
- Totalpkg - meatballs and cream puff dessert - 1 table

Hey Dean,

I just sent you a PM. I will send out an Evite to everyone that we have e-mails for. Will also go out to some of our new neighbours across the street to let them know. I think we would have our side of the street covered. its more so the other side of Coombs that we'd need to inform.

We could make a sign (think garage sale sign) and display it at the fron of the street for people to see? Our is that too tacky?

I am compiling the e-mail list right now... Will send out the Evite this weekend after getting a few more addresses. Should be lots of fun.

Oh yeah, in addition to the Polish sausages, Alex will make a contribution with Mars chocolate bars and I will bring some Kellogg products too:)

Thanks everyone for your involvement in the first Coombs Cr. street party. Had a great time meeting everyone and glad you had a great day for the event.
