quick question - what will it cost me (ball park) to have hardwood put in my 1100 sq ft townhouse. Are stairs extra? I have 2 sets!

thanks

If you want, I can provide you with a quote. Just send me more info with link to your floorplan, what colour & species of wood you are looking for, etc.
Yes, stairs are always extra & are expensive to do if you want to go from carpet to wood or re-stain.

Sean Cillis of Cillis Flooring did our floors and did a fantastic job and his prices were excellent.
We had him install hardwood on a diagonal on our main level (excluding kitchen & bathroom) & the hallway upstairs.

We've had many compliments on our hardwood -from the home inspector, from several Mattamy workers & other contractors we've had in doing work in our new home, to family members who are realtors. We are very pleased with his work and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sean.

Sean is located in Milton.

Milton Hardwood Flooring.

I wouldn't recommend Milton Hardwood Flooring. We bought the hardwood and the installation through them. The guy came in at 4 pm instead of the agreed 9:30 am because of the Soccer World Cup and Italy was playing. Then he rushed through the whole installation staying waaay too late, didn't stagger the floor properly, the floor is buckling at certain places and the planks are cupping. Two planks actually cracked during installation but he didn't want to fix it. We had such a hassle until the store manager (or owner) finally came by, manually cut out the cracked pieces and inserted a new one. We got nothing, not even an "We're sorry". We can be one of those odd situations this had happened to but if you can find someone else who had no issues and everybody is happy, go with them.

i wouldnt recommend Milton hardwood at all... i got mine done by them. they did a very very poor job.. i got the main floor and hallway upstairs done by them.. the guys walked up and down my brand new expresso colored stairs with there boots on and scratched them all up and then they wouldnt admit that they did it. someone was supposed to come and fix them, but its been almost 3 months and no one has come. so im finally getting Mattamy to fix them for me, thankfully they are fixing it for me.

Can anyone recommend a company\person who sells and installs hardwood floors? We have wall to wall carpeting on the 2nd floor and we want it gone and replaced with hardwood. Not interested in laminate at all.

I just dealt with Core Flooring a couple of months ago. They were excellent to deal with and the installation was very clean. Very happy with them overall.

"Patrob" supplies and installs hardwood. I met him on a job and saw his work, it's top notch!
I'm sure you can find him in the ad section.

I will second Core flooring from personal experience. Owner is Jack and I also found him excellent to deal with. Great service and great workmanship and, frankly, unbeatable prices. I also really like Tielemans downtown, but Core's pricing won me over on the last job.

Danke for the suggestions, folks :)
I'm tired of having wall to wall carpeting upstairs.
It is such a disgusting dust trap/collector.
Yuck.

Of the companies mentioned, I tried working with Pedroswood, from here.
I do not recommend. No returned calls, hounding for quotes, showed up late for the quote (by a lot)
No phone call when late. Then we agreed on a price and date. He called back the day he was due to install, 2 hours after supposed to be there, and said he wasn't interested in the work. He did say he would be interested in it if I paid him almost double what he quoted. Not cool.
We went ahead with someone else.

Jessica :)
