We've had a few incidents in the past year with the post office not delivering our mail. For a period of about 2 months, about half of our mail was being held at the post office - just enough of our bills etc. were getting through that it didn't quite sink in. We were arguing with a Hamilton utility company (rental property) telling them their bills being sent out to us, and they kept insisting they were sending them, and sure enough when we got a notice to stop by and pick up a parcel, we were also given a stack of mail over ONE FOOT HIGH of all our mail that was being held at the post office! They apologized and said there must have been some confusion etc. Now it's happening again with our post office box at Rexall where our rental property mail is directed. We had to go to the landlord tenant board and pay to get additional copies of paperwork that had been mailed to us and returned back to them saying our po box didn't exist. They actually still had the returned envelope and the address was correct. They have sent us paperwork to the same po box in the past and we've received it. So what other mail isn't making it to us and what can we do about this? SO frustrated!!!

We never get mail on Mondays? We get a tonne on Tuesdays. Pretty sure the mail person skips Mondays at our PO box.

I have a no flyers sign in my mailbox... Because i don't have to weed out the junk, I have noticed on occasion we only get mail every other day... I know this is only coincidence , but I swear it's conspiracy in the making!

We're in the Derry/Scott area and notice the same things. Monday is usually a heavy mail day, but lately nothing on Mondays. Seems it's every other day or really late, like 5:30pm.
If you have a home business and are waiting for cheques, orders, it's very unreliable and not OK.
Have there been any cuts in staff or heavier routes piled on?
What do we do, call the Brown Street main PO and enquire?

Is it possible for the delivery person to pretend to work a day, but take it off, then do both days stacks the following day? Like who would notice? I also notice days with nothing, followed by the box being full on the following day.

I have noticed that our mailman/mailwoman doesn't leave the parcel notices the same day the item is delivered ... luckily, I keep track of my mails being sent through tracked services, and I get delivery alerts. I usually go to the postal outlet to pickup my mail without the notice card - using my address and get my parcel (sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't as the postal outlet person sometimes can track the mail using the address, and sometimes insists on the notice card - even though my mail tracking on canadapost.ca shows that the mail is available for pickup at the postal outlet - but I don't get the notice card. I usually get the notice card delivered in my mailbox the next day (after I have already picked up my parcels/mails from the postal outlet).

I never noticed the regular mail (untracked mail) delivery patterns ... may be the mail delivery person does skip the days ... I don't know how would I ever know about it or can prove anything unless it is tracked mail ... may be try sending yourself tracked mails every day, so that you get the tracked mails delivered every day for rest of the week, and this way you can figure out the mail delivery pattern ... it will prove that the mail delivery person does really skip a day here and there to make it a long weekend or extra long weekend :)

I have a few family members that are postal workers... there day is structured around an 8 hr work day. But if you get in early enough to sort your mail, hustle a little and you can finish your day in 6 hrs. Going home early has been a job perk since day one apparently.

Where thing get interesting is... If a co-worker is going on holidays you can take his route... again a little hustle can you can finish your day in 12hrs. Where is the benefit you ask... they start getting paid over rate as soon as they switch over to the other route. So if your getting your mail late your mail carrier might be on holidays...

this is slightly off topic, but it's regarding mail. i walk to the big box thing to get my mail, but other neighbourhoods get it delivered to their door. i pay the same for stamps as they do, do they pay more taxes or something? or does it just suck to live in a new neighbourhood?

Seriously, how much snail mail do you guys get? Mail box full the following day! I think I could leave my mail box for the entire month and it still would only have a few bills in there.

I have the same problem with my mail, it seems that the carrier in our area is very unreliable; mail seems to be delivered quite late, especially stuff being forwarded from my old address. Coupled with that, it appears that s/he can't read addresses - in December I ordered my license plate sticker online but it never came. I ended up having to take a few hours off work to go and get another one. I also got a call from cable and hydro saying I didn't pay my bills in December. Two weeks into January my neighbour came by and said "oh this mail was mixed in with ours" and sure enough it was the stickers and the 2 bills.

I don't know how far complaints go to head office, but you need to call them and at least report your issue. Our mail delivery person is quite the character. She comes 1-2 times a week, won't come if there is a snow flake on the ground, has left us a threatening note on our rural mailbox claiming she scratched her car on the door of our mailbox and if that ever happened again she would stop mail delivery to our home...list goes on. Our neighbours get our mail, we get theirs, etc.

I complained to Canada Post, and the Milton Post Office on Brown Street called me back a few days later to clarify details. Hopefully they give her a good fixin'.

The best any of you can do if you care enough is call Customer Service and have this all documented, and mail delivery can happen between 8am and 8pm for the person who thinks 5:30pm is late

Our mail gets delivered to another house with the same number. We have three streets within a block starting with "T". All three have the same house number. We get mail from the other two so I assume that they get ours as well. We deliver it to them when we get theirs but have never had ours delivered back. Not sure if they just mail it again or what. I was missing a cheque for two months at Christmas.
