Well sure, but who said anything about fighting a court order?

I was just saying that there was no need to roll over on the request from the lawyer because it's essentially meaningless.

No court order is needed to drag Rick into court. He has to go to court to either say he's not divulging sh*t without a court order or say here you go your honour. The judge will decide he doesnt have to disclose the info (maybe) but you still need representation by a lawyer. Dont get me wrong. Im sure it will go away, but the lawyer can demand the info of the posters if he wants to be the alpha here and Rick either coughs it up and doesnt pay a cent, or he can defend us and end up paying around 10 G's... When a lawyer comes a knocking, either you roll over and give him the info, or you fight and hire a lawyer. The minimum is $10,000 just to go through this in court.

Yeah sorry, but that's just wrong.

I can tell by your carefully crafted argument that you have significant experience with the legal system and its nuances with regards to running an internet forum. Bravo, sir.

Think this is bad?
Can you imagine if we lived in the US?
Rick would be receiving class action law suits to have the entire site shut down. The US citizens will file for anything.

I'm glad that this thread was created. Its a good reminder to respect each other, even when there is a difference of opinion. We can get our point across without having to be appear like a douch.
Props to Cactus_jack for that.

Lawyers always write the letter representing the client's viewpoint
Just because a lawyer wrote it does not make it legal (or even true)

Rick would not even need to answer it (doubtful a court would ever issue that in lawyer's favour anyhow; there are so many exceptions for hosts)

Although I am curious as to what the post originally said as I assume it was deleted by now?
Min Max again?
