My family is moving to Milton in a few weeks, across the street from where Milton School #8 is supposed to go. My daughter starts JK in the fall at PLR.

I'm thoroughly confused by the debate between the province and the school board. Perhaps one of the councillors can explain how the process has worked for every other recent school built in Milton. There must be a precedent here. Who funded the building of PLR?

Someone here has to be right. There has to be someone we can point to and say 'why are you saying something different for this school?'

Any insight would be appreciated. We took the risk of buying near #8 knowing this situation but I was/am hopeful that by the time my daughter is Grade 1 the school will be there...

Forgive the excess 'test' post. I'm new the board and just realized there is an approval process for new posts.

I just came across the recent issue of the Milton Villager that says provincial funding was approved!

What a relief!
Any news on what this means as far as timeline to get it built?

Hi Everybody,

Great news - the Halton District School Board has officially chosen the name for the new elementary school that is opening this year at Farmstead and Derry. It will be called Anne MacArthur P.S., named after a great former Milton mayor. Here is the announcement:

An excellent choice! Have a great weekend everybody.

Best Regards,
Tony

Good to know. This is not an old news.
BTW, what's the target date opening of the new school? Jan 1 2014?
Thanks!

Hi apple,

Good afternoon. The new Anne MacArthur P.S. should be completed during the upcoming 2013 - 2014 school year. (I am very happy about this new school we are getting, and the 4 more schools coming our way). Have a great March Break.

Kindest Regards,
Tony

The board hasn't published a completion date, just sometime in the 2013/14 school year. Based on #7 going from groundbreaking to opening this coming September in 10 months (broke ground in October) I'd think January would be pretty optimistic. They'd have to be breaking ground next month. I'd be guessing more like spring 2014.

Hey prosbuyer,

We recently received an invitation from the HDSB:

GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR ANNE J. MACARTHUR P.S. (aka Milton #8):

Taking place on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.

It will be nice to see the school finally take shape so our kids can move out of the high school;)

You're welcome:)
Not sure if you have kids attending EC Drury or @ PLR but we've surpassed 500 kids @ EC already so it'll be good to be back in a proper elementary school again.
