Hey now, Milton has a history of getting everything we don't want and very little that we do need.
We are too inept to initiate good projects and even more inept at fighting the bad ideas.
I might suggest the community welcome CN's project. Wait til they find out Milton does not consider infrastructure until after the tax revenue has been in the bank many years.

They must have caught wind that Brittania is being widened 8 years ahead of schedule. Whoever spearheaded that is to blame.

As someone that recently bought in Hawthorne South Village hearing this news is really concerning! Why would they place this beside all of this residential zoning. I was thinking this area would be great with all of the future housing and potential university in the nearby future.

But with this CN rail being right around the corner from this new phase has me blindsided! 24/7 with all the noise and trucks. I'm sure they'll access Britannia all the time going up and down to catch Bronte Hwy #25.

I'm really hoping this gets resolved somehow. Hopefully an agreement is made to move it somewhere else in Milton weather it be further south or near commercial.

Maybe it's being widened b/c they knew this facility was coming.

Did CN pitch in to help build the tunnel and bridge over the tracks , which by the way has been designed for two tracks......looks like the tax payer got fleeced again....

Report To: Chair and Members of the Planning and Public Works Committee
From: Jim Harnum, Commissioner, Public Works
Date: June 11, 2014
Report No. PW-17-14, Re: Derry Road (Regional Road 7) Grade Separation at Canadian National Railway West of Bronte Street, Ward 8, Town of Milton, Our File: PR-2749A

"At CN’s request, the Derry Road design includes an upgrade from a single track to a two track rail bridge and CN is responsible for the cost to upgrade the rail bridge. This cost sharing arrangement is typical for CN Crossing Agreements of this type."

Nope, looks like CN conveniently had it all worked out.

But wait the town got BLINDSIDED, there was never any solid evidence to indicate that CN would go ahead and build the facility. So someone would drop a million to add an extra track just for....what?

So CN told the town they wanted to build light industrial not an intermodal in 2008. So what becomes of the land between the intermodal and the dump? It will become a big no man's land that I suppose only industrial will want to locate to.

Truck / trailer repair shops, tire shops, and probably a very large cardlock/commercial fuel depot. Everything you need to keep 1500 trucks on the road and their drivers fed. The thing that scares me the most is the "can yankers" as they are called in the trucking industry are the least paid, and among the most unsafe owner operators in the biz.

Their trucks are usually crap and the drivers are the most unskilled period. Big reputable firms do not do intercity/local intermodal runs.

My friend has to drive on Brittania to work to Mississauga, wonder if this affects her, the Brampton Intermodal is already a mess. :D

Can anyone hear that cheering sound?

That's the sound of the Milton hooker. She's about to get a permanent indoor place of work. It will be in a strip mall that will pop up near the yard with a little neon "open" sign in the window 24 hours a day.

"The caressing hands spa"
