Be careful with what you buy. Some of these brick and mortar sales shops are rip off artists plain and simple. Personally, I don't trust any of them.

You can get good ones off of the net, delivered to your home from amazon for 60-100. Now these won't come pre-loaded, which is a good thing as those boxes are loaded with ton of sh*t you don't need. You literally need 3-4 add ons to get limitless content. And the "to do" is very googleable and easy to follow.

Next consideration is future-proofing. The under a 100 boxes aren't future proofed, meaning in 2+ years when the core OS gets upgraded, these boxes will be rendered useless. You can get a box in the 200-300 range that will be future proofed and has ongoing support for any upgrades.

Its up to you in what you are willing to deal with. Personally, I buy the under 100 boxes. When they become obsolete, Ill just buy another one for the same price and not deal with the pain of doing upgrades.

Android boxes are not needed.

Buy a decent Samsung Galaxy Tablet.
Install Kodi App
Install Kodi Configurator App
Install Exodus Addon in Kodi
Mirror it to your TV.

I'm looking for live Showtime, HBO, and PPV fights. Will Exodus do that?

That's only good if you don't mind typing up a tablet. Much better to get a dedicated box.

Do any of you guys have the Amazon Firestick with kodi?
Thinking of getting one, and cutting off the cable I read that kodi isn't user friendly. Any advise/input will help.

I have a Dreamlink T1 to sell if anyone wants it. Works great, I just decided Netflix and sportsnet Now was enough.

find that live streaming on kodi isn't all that reliable. best bet for streaming is getting a subscription for for anywhere from 8-20 a month. you'll have access to all the channels plus ppv events.

another option instead of those set top boxes, is grab an old laptop or computer and hook it to your tv/ stereo.

Exodus has almost any content imaginable. HBO content for sure.

For live sports I have been unable to find any add-on that works. Other posters may be more knowledgeable than me.

I only recommend the tablet because it is in the same ballpark as the android box but can be used outside the home. I regularily use the download option for Netflixs and take it on business. My two cents.

One thing is if your TV is not Samsung I am not sure if you can screen mirror.

Its really all a matter of preference. The tablet option is good if you have a compatible TV and you don't mind the tablet navigation. Others prefer the traditional box method.

From a reliability perspective, there are the odd ups and downs, but I would say mine works perfectly 98% of the time. The only trouble I has was when the OS upgrade occurred a few months ago, beyond that, its been spotless for 2+ years. Even if it does have the occasional outage, at the end of the day, it is free content so you get what you pay for. I know of some pay for services (realdebrid I think) that gives you the same unlimited content, but 100% reliability and quality. I just haven't pulled the trigger on that because I have no idea how to do it.

So at the end of the day, you need to ask yourself: how technically minded are you? Do you want purely free content? Do you want a standard cable box setup or functionality from a tablet.
