Auto insurance is cheaper in the riding this guy currently represents than the riding he used to represent. We were not supposed to notice, I guess?

Yeah, my first impression is that our rates will increase. I agree, people in his old ridding will benefit more about it than the ones that voted for him.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog-whistle_politics

Quote:
Dog-whistle politics

Dog-whistle politics is political messaging employing coded language that appears to mean one thing to the general population but has an additional, different, or more specific resonance for a targeted subgroup. The analogy is to a dog whistle, whose ultrasonic whistling sound is heard by dogs but inaudible to humans.

The term can be distinguished from "code words" used in some specialist professions, in that dog-whistling is specific to the political realm. The messaging referred to as the dog-whistle has an understandable meaning for a general audience, rather than being incomprehensible.

You can see how this meshes up with Dougie' s "for the people" messaging. He's probably had this in the bag for quite some time, maybe before he knew he'd be saddled with Milton.

Doesn't he still live in his old riding? I guess he'll get cheaper insurance now.

We all get to pay more now so crappy drivers pay less. I'm glad he's our MPP.

Isn’t it cheaper because certain places have higher theft than others? I mean, this is the one thing that insurance companies did that I actually was cool with.

I've heard its because of higher rates of insurance fraud, fake rearenders, fake pedestrian hits, etc. But what do I know, I live in Milton.

I think you're both right but poor driving in general is mostly to blame. Have you been on the 410? The stuff I see on that highway makes my jaw drop.

Oh BS

The outright profiteering by the insurance companies is legendary
Even an entry level position (eg call centre) gets paid VERY well
Show me a single insurance company who has not done well financially in any quarter

So you're in support of this Minty? Is it your interpretation that we need this to put the screws to The Man?

Never claimed they were saints. The best rates seem to be in provinces that have publicly owned providers to compete with the private ones. Would you suggest we go that route?

Did no fault insurance come into affect in the '80s? Man, that's one serious grudge!

ON has one of the worst insurance systems in Canada

The Liberal handling of this was def a part of the reason the lower classes handed the next election to the NDP

So yeah, lots of damage done and I would hope most of the older people still remember the trauma
