Assuming that number is not accurate, its still a legitimate way to look at the silly situation.
We stop at all these lights with almost no cross traffic. 5th line, 6th line, then its 3 to 4 cycles of lights to get through at Trafalgar as we give priority to the northbound traffic from Oakville at a Milton light.
Why can't the line up be for the Oakville folks at OUR light at Trafalgar? We sit there as they zip by resistance free. Let them have a turn waiting for a few years. Its our light!
If you were to combine the amount of wasted time just from those 3 lights you'd likely get a staggering number like you posted.
Trafalgar is directing traffic to/from the 401, I guess that's the logic, but I agree... waiting line in Derry at that intersection is absurd at times.
There should be a sensor that detects traffic incoming from 5th and 6th line, each time a vehicle arrives at the intersection from 5th/6th line they should wait at least 2 minutes to change the light.
