I wonder why they didn't want to live near you anymore.

Not just passive-aggressive, but parting-blow post-facto passive-aggressive. On the Interwebs.

Why do people even have dogs anyway? Is it to fill some emotional hole that could be better filled by other things like drugs and alcohol?

I blame the Beer Store for your family's struggle.

Cats are the much better option

Not only are cats incapable of barking, but they organize their own feces in a dedicated mutually agreed-upon location, as opposed to all over the goddamned place.

That, people, is the perfect house pet.

I asked them to nicely at least a dozen times to please bring their dogs inside when they are done their business so that they don't bark. They refused. I called the city to complain, they came 3 times, and never caught them in the act. You try waking up to a screaming baby because of this and tell me you wouldn't have been fed up and happy to see them go.

They are the jerks Norts, not me. I did nothing to invade their privacy or inconvenience them in any way.

If you did all this and still had no success, you should have poisoned the dog.

Maybe they got fed up with their street being abused.

You know, with other people to driving on it as it was zoned, designed and built.

But they bark and sh*t all over the place, and then you build a relationship with them and then they die.

And what did you so for them? Fed them the same boring dry garbage every day for breakfast lunch and dinner and lived on a tiny piece of land and only let them out of the house for max 1 hour every day.

No thanks. Cats. Cats are the way to success. Nothawthorny has it right.

My dog barks very little, and only for a reason. She also shits in almost the same spot in the backyard, but mostly only on walks. She will eventually die though, which sucks. Her breed is known to be quite healthy and resilient though, so we are expecting her to get to her late teens.

We feed her a variety of stuff, including beer! She's a total boozehound. She sleeps most of the day, gets at least an hour walk every night, plus getting to tear ass around our backyard (she loves the snow and goes nuts in it). So I think she has a pretty fantastic life in exchange for entertaining us to no end. All 3 kids thing she's the best thing ever, and she does a good job of tolerating their grubby little hands.

Cats are pretty awesome, but everyone and their cousin is allergic to them. Also, they spend more time plotting your demise while sucking up all your attention (part of why I think they are awesome).

But yeah, dogs are awesome. You just need to find the right breed to fit your life. Or not.
