Don't get me wrong, I disliked the actions and policies of Tony Lambert as much as the next guy, and wrote a letter expressing my strong opinion in the form of a Letter to the Editor, which the Champion refused to print. Having said that, it is still unfair, in my opinion, to blame everything wrong on just one guy. What has Brian Penman done filling in? What does our mayor do to promote projects affecting most, if not all of Milton? How many more years will Tony Lambert be the whipping boy for all that ails Milton? Councillors should grow some balls and man up where required.

I wonder what Brian Penman has to say about all of this HOO-HAAH?

It's said that we seem to except inadequacy in Milton because it is "growing", the challenges are "new" and we did not have the "right" people in other levels of government. Blame game does not help and the person being blamed can't defend themselves anymore. Residents in Milton also need to be WAY more activist so consequences can be enacted if things are not working. Trust me, if Mississauga all of a sudden shutdown Hurontario by SquareOne, there'd be hell to pay ... when all of Council and the staff at Town Hall start thinking that way and individually taking ownership of their town, things can improve.

I am simply one citizen of limited means and found out about the Derry shutdown like everyone else, when I got out my front door. Yet I got Thursday's Milton Champion on Friday night and turned to page 24 on Saturday to see the Halton Region posting about the Derry Road closure (day before it happened). The Project Manager's name is posted in the Champion as Jennifer Trimble, Phone 905-825-6000 ext. 7690 and email Jennifer.Trimble@halton.ca (for those that have been relying on someone to tell them this information).

What's done is done and we simply have to limp away from this mess but call me crazy if I make the suggestion of either any or all of Town Council and member's of Milton's planning department getting in touch with Halton's planning leaders (ie. Jennifer, her boss and Gary Carr) and politely explaining what a Gong-show these past few days has been and to be given at minimum 2 weeks lead time to warn residents. Not sure why it is so hard to at least flip an email (minimum effort) instead of sitting on one's hands and hoping someone tells you what's going on .... the folks that run this town should make it their job to know what's going on and take appropriate action, is that not in the job description? (if not, it sure as hell should be)

I've wondered this as well. It would've saved everyone a lot of time.
Guess things were planned ahead of time and they didn't think savoline/LSL would open up by then.

I believe it was meant to open this past summer but "weather" delayed some work. I'm guessing it'll be one lane each way until the do a second coat on each side next spring. Then it'll be full two lanes each way. I don't expect any right turn lanes.. That's another thread to complain in.

I am surprised at you with this response for a number of reasons

1) You, and others, may be elected by voters in your ward but once elected you represent and are expected to advocate on behalf of the entire Town!
2) You, and the majority of Council, appointed Brian Penman to fill Tony's seat did he suffer also from Tony's lack of Communication?
3) Colin and the Mayor also represent us, ie the entire Town, on Regional Council - did they not advocate and communicate?
4) and probably most important don't Regional and Town Staff communicate with each other and with their elected overseers?

I gotta agree here. Can't blame everything on Tony. There are other regional councillors That should have been made aware. It's also possible that none of the regional councillors were made aware by the construction company or person that manages transportation for the the region.

Very poorly timed closure no doubt. Am I surprised? Not at all. When it comes to transport And infrastructure, I'd give Milton a failing grade across the board.

Here's to hoping council listens and takes steps to fix stuff this session.

Traffic was lined up down Scott 10 minutes ago and the parade is starting in 10 minutes which means Main St. will be closed.

BRAVO Milton! Fortunately I'm working from home tomorrow but I have to be to curling club for 5:10 so maybe I'd be better off just walking there...

Main Street is closed for the Remembrance Day Parade. Well timed with the Derry Road closure. Great work, guys!

Main was closed for perhaps two hours for the annual Remembrance Day Veterans Parade for a short section in the downtown well past the intersection at Bronte which gave people the option of going north to Steeles or back down to Derry, or down Mill Street to Martin and all the various options for getting around off Bronte south on Main.
