Getting actually into the side streets was the hard part. Yah, with cars in front and behind me, as far as the eye can see, I'm sure we were all thinking how to get unstuck from where we were and try another route ... it really illustrated just how many people live in the West end. Scary to see what the roads will look like after 5 years when those 6,000 homes get built between Tremaine and Bronte, all the way down to Britannia

You're right - the tougest part for many was just getting out of their own subdivision, by the looks of how congested things were up at Main/Scott and Main/Tremaine!

Couldn't you just take the 407 to appleby and do a reach-around? Who would actually sit in that mess?

I bet Waze would've known where to go...

actually that might have worked...can't wait to try it next time.

But really if you use Britannia and cut north on Bell school line it's not quite as dramatic as you make it out to be.

Actually there are a couple of nifty little routes to take that served me quite well during these times of traffic hardship. I'm not even really pissed about this whole thing, other than the fact that the LSL bridge has been sitting there for a year and a half and could have been in service months ago to shoulder some of the overflow.

LOL! No, that looks more like Carr. The only difference is that Milton can't excuse itself from line and run away.

Tried to drive around eglington/dixie last few years? How about where the Toronto lrt is going, the streets will be dug up from last spring until 2020. Milton construction is not nearly as bad as you think.

Mississauga LRT is going to also be HORRIBLE
Hurontario is already nasty to drive on, they plan to close 3 lanes of traffic to build this worthless LRT (running north-south really?)

Like there aren't already enough bus systems (4) on this route

Hazel is a strong proponent of this LRT, so it can't be all bad.

In spite of what some people think, she was no God. She did leave Mississauga with a lasting legacy, a huge big deficit with no more DC's to bail it out of hock.

Most politicians in her shoes would have left Mississauga with a crushing debit as well. She didn’t. In our system, that’s a huge win.

She also ran Carolyn Parrish out of politics, which is a the single biggest favor to the citizens anyone could possibly do. That woman was an epic disaster in the making and she would probably be Mayor right now if it wasn’t for Hazel.

She used to be good... just too many people got used to voting for her and she long overstayed her usefulness

Do you have spreadsheets that prove this?

Wait a minute! A $1.5 billion infrastructure deficit is peanuts. Well it may be pocket change to you but to some of us who lived there and others who still live there, hefty residential tax increases will be needed to repair and upgrade the city services. She didn't bother to set aside funds by raising minimal taxes over the years to cover the needs down the road. Now the DC's have come to an end as not much land is left to build housing. Carolyn Parrish may not be your favourite politician but she did point out some flaws in some of Hazel's decision such as if a fund had been set aside for infrastructure upgrading, interest could have been earned. Hazel's unilateral decision on the Hydro partnership with an outsider was not presented to council so it could be voted upon.
And how Hazel escaped culpability on the matter of the potential real estate transaction with her son is rather murky. It resulted in council changing rules on members having prior knowledge of a project so they can be barred from voting. Golden years indeed for Mississauga.

Public financials are as the name implies public
Or do you need someone to help you understand them?
