I see from the Milton.ca account, Pam am will be running the facility and then will be turning it back to the town in sept 2015

Will they be hiring through the town or will Pan Am be hiring people and then those people will be turned over to the town after??

Anyone have info?

One job they wont need after the Pan Am games is crowd control. What a waste of money.

The less people there, the better for me - cause I'll sure be there. We're actually going to be pretty lucky to have a world class facility like that right in town. I for one can't wait for it to open. I'm happy to be in that minority.

Wyl, have you emailed the town folk involved? None of them seem to post much here anymore, so I doubt you'll get the answer you're looking for on this forum.

too bad it's not open sooner. My Taekwon do school needs a venue. I suspect the center area of the velodrome would be large and there would be enough spectator viewing space. We have a tournament Nov 1st that we are hosting. We wanted it in Milton, but there are no venue's that can house what we need with enough spectator space. We are expecting several hundred competitors and are receiving RSVP's from other countries as well (US and UK so far, Argentina is interested as well). We ended up booking a recreational center in Burlington unfortunately...

Lots of security jobs (am I the only one who finds it strange the recruiters are all outside Milton?)

Quote:
Ontario Provincial Police say more than 5,000 college youth enrolled in police and justice programs are being recruited to provide security for the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games.
The OPP says it is working in partnership with Contemporary Security Canada, a company that also provided security for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, to hire the personnel for the Games that open on July 10.
The provincial police — which is the lead agency in charge of security for the Games — says students in police foundations and security management programs can apply for the jobs, which include guards, screeners and venue supervisors.
Contemporary Security Canada says anyone with a high school diploma and an Ontario Security Licence can apply, and promises to provide those who qualify with "exceptional training and competitive compensation."
The company held a campus recruitment session in Ottawa last month and opened a temporary centre in Kitchener on Monday, with more centres expected to open in Niagara Falls and London over the next few weeks.
About 6,000 athletes from 41 countries are expected to participate at the Games, which are being held at venues across southern Ontario.

They have been posting a few jobs on the Milton.ca site.

I'm sure they will get some great, very talented people. I mean, they already know they will be unemployed 9 months from now, and will get great training and benefits for 3 weeks.

The point was that there are far more being posted way outside the area Pan Am is actually happening (eg no Milton, but Kitchener & Niagara regions)
I'd assume even some Toronto residents should start to be upset at how it has been happening
