Thoughts on the lack of actual debates? I know a few wards had "All candidates meetings", but I was wondering if any thought good old fashioned debates were required? I think the couple of wards that surprised some might have been better served with some 'combative discussion', let's say.

I think there would be mass disqualification if this band of candidates were subjected to a public debate. Most of the fluff cases and hobbyists would not survive it. The ones mostly dependent on social media, with questionable supporters and over-active Twitter accounts, are the ones I'd say need to be vetted in-person, thoroughly examined with eyes and ears.

I think we really do need to set up a program of debates for 2018. If the Town and Region are really committed to increasing voter turnout, and want to avoid debacles like Lambo and other under-performing councillors, this would be a great tool. Are they concerned? Maybe not.

As you might know some folks are contesting for liberal nomination from new Milton riding; they have a debate scheduled for today at 7pm. Similar to that, there should have been one between councillor contestants and in fact town should have scheduled this debate. Anyways I fully aligned with your suggestions.
