My wife's best friend moved to the states, Arkansas. I am going to visit her for the first time since she left 2 years ago. I was thinking of bringing a Canadian care package for her. I know the obvious, Smarties and Lays ketchup chips. I am drawing a blank after those items. I am not bring Poutine with me, although I do plan on making it for her b-day. What else is there, any health choices? |

Many States don't have salt & vinegar chips either. When my father lived in the States, I always brought down a large tin of Tim Hortons coffee, orange (old) cheddar, and Bick's Dill pickles. Just a couple of things he missed and couldn't get there. |

Partial list, "health choices" excluded: Kraft Dinner, top of list. Anything with a Royal Warrant ("By Appointment of HM") like Lea & Perrins, Crosse & Blackwell, Twinings, HP Sauce, Robertson's marmalade, etc.. Lowney's Cherries Canadian whisky, CC or Crown Polar Ice vodka, while you're at it, why not. |

Get her a pair of those The Bay Canada mittens, along with some Tim Hortons single-serve Keurig things, some Laura Secord chocolates and the Canadian Springs bottled water from SuperStore, haha. |

From a Walmart online product review of KD, lol! Quote: Perfectly Serves However Many People Are Around. Kraft Dinner is a classic, cheese-like delicacy beloved by Canadians old and young. Fun fact: Kraft Dinner is the original name for the product in America, Australia and Canada, but over the years it was renamed Kraft Macaroni & Cheese in all other markets. The classic name and flavour lives on north of the border. Remarkably, a box of KD seems to serve whatever number of people are in the room with no leftovers. I've seen anywhere from 1 to 5 people enjoy a single box, but 3 seems to be the sweet spot. Finishing a box by myself was definitely doable in my youth, but now the attempt makes me feel terrible. I recommend EasyMac (or tupperware) for those over 20 dining alone. Some pro-tips from an expert: - Use slightly less milk than the package recommends, otherwise it gets a little soupy. - Adding some fresh cracked black pepper or crushed red pepper flakes creates a bold, delicious flavour. - There's lots of fun ingredients that can be mixed in: hot dogs, canned tuna, ground beef, diced tomato, ketchup. - Mix it with ground beef, onion, egg and ketchup and bake in the oven, and you've got a half-decent meatloaf... seriously! Love it. Going to cook some this weekend, for nostalgia's sake. |

It is cheaper to buy Canadian Club and Crown Royal in the US so that is not a good gift to bring (unless you buy it in the States). If she loves Tim Hortons, get her that. Otherwise the Bay mitts and hat are great. Even if she has last year`s version, you can get her this year`s version as it is different. I have last year`s version and have gotten this year`s version as well. |

Maple syrup, peameal, smokes and Ice wine. Maybe a TML shirt as a gag. Don't fly with a jar of pickles. They aren't packaged for that type of air pressure and dill pickle juice is impossible to get out of clothing. |
