Well I never thought it would happen to us but it did. Our house was broken into last night while no one was home. It is very rare that no one is home. They broke in through the back window and left through the patio door. They trashed my bedroom and took all my jewellery. I am beyond mad. No I don't feel violated I just feel f'ing furious!!!!! The police told me that it was the second such call they got last evening. Unbelievable. |

I know what you mean - I had my car broken into on my drive way when we lived in mississauga and my garage as well on a separate occasion. The garage didn't have a door to the house, so when I came home, I noticed it slightly opened. I opened the door to take a look and there was 2 sets of eyes looking at me! I froze - I didn't know what to do. I SHOULD have slammed the door closed, driven my car up against the door (it was one of those one piece garage doors that swing out) and called the police... unfortunately in the moment, I didn't know what to do... Incredibly angry - stuff we work hard for and someone just comes and takes it. Did you have an alarm system on the house? It know it doesn't always work, but the blaring siren may have drawn attention to your place. |

Interesting how the Harrison area seems to be "crime free"...wonder if thieves don't think there's anything worth stealing there or maybe they live there and it's what you don't do in your own back yard! |

Don't expect the police to do much other than take a report. I'm betting they did not even send round an ident unit to take prints. Check with your neighbours and see if any near by have security cameras. Ask them to check out any suspicious activity around the time it happened. In many cases they will look at several near by homes before selecting yours. Take an objective look and try to decide why you're was targeted instead of your neighbours? How's your lighting? Any overgrowth of vegetation etc, |

its sad that the halton police spend more time by the side of the road catching speeders than they do catching guys that break into our houses. they don't even send someone to take prints or anything. whats the point of paying for police? |

After reading this I feel bad that I did not call police about what I thought was a suspicious guy. I was waking my dog in about 9:30am, this young man I'd never seen before knocked on a door and left quickly when someone answered the door. He headed down toward Tuxford. I see now there was a break in on that street that day. Not wanting to be busy body..not wanting to be scoffed at. But seriously this paticular guy really didnot look like he was a neighbor. You know when you work from home and take 2 walks a day YOU see "things" that some might consider "different" . |

With all due respect, a scene of crime officer or ident officer is not always called out to residential break ins. It's about 50/50. Is Halton well served, yes. But canvassing neighbors is not something the will do, that is up to you. |

She had left for half an hour to pick up some groceries. He kicked the back door in and took money and jewelry. The police dusted for fingerprints around the door frame and the jewelry box. They also canvassed the surrounding neighbors including me. One neighbor did see a large man dressed in black going down the lady's driveway. Could not see a face; he was wearing a hoodie. The back of her house is pretty secluded. No fencing. The police even came back later that day to check on her,she's an older lady, late 70's, to see if she was ok. Kudos to Halton Police. |

my friends car was broken into on their driveway and when they called police, the officer told her to call her insurance. they didn't send anyone at all. not even to look at the car, fingerprints or anything. they hung up on her. |
