I know of a boy 18 going in for surgery he will be in bed for at least a few days. He loves to read therefore I would like to get him a book or series of books.
In the past I have purchased him Game of Thorns Series and he loved them but not sure what else. Any idea's would be greatly appreciated Thanks

Rich Dad Poor Dad For Teens by Robert Kiyosaki so he can be a good future contributor to the economy and ahead of his peers when he finishes school.

++++++1

And Brandon Sandersons The Way of Kings

Both series are awesome, but if you have to pick one, go with the Name of the Wind!!!

I always recommend this series to anyone who is into epic fantasy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malazan_Book_of_the_Fallen

I read a lot and based on what he is interested in I would recommend Joe Abercrombie as an author.
Does the similar gritty world. Also, First Law Trilogy is a completed story and that is always a plus when sick and have the time to read through a few books.

We've met Pat Rothfuss several times, such a SUPER nice guy - he is getting SO harassed by people begging for the 3rd book! :)
"The Slow Regard of Quiet Things" is next on my "to read" list.
