I've been an "intermittent regular" here on the HV board for a few years and it's just become apparent to me why. You can hardly post anything without some form of insult or otherwise negative comment being thrown around by vultures lurking for their next kill. As someone pointed out in the "New Restaurant" thread, the negativity around here is poisonous. So much "me so smart, everyone else dumb" connotation by those who feel inclined to retort to nearly every post. Some are just fishing for a harmless laugh but many get off by malevolently insulting everybody they can, others are just plain uptight and negative. What's up with that ? I've been around bulletin boards for a long time and I know there are always the lurkers, but it's just so inequitably prevalent here on the HV board. Plausible explanations welcome ! |

This place is a treasure-trove of useful information, if you are inclined to use it as such. If you are only skimming the General Forum for your own opinion, you will surely be disappointed. Also, it helps to take it all with a grain of salt since you are, after all, circulating in a public forum, inspite of the apparent anonymity. It really is the same thing, it's just a bunch of people in here. Have a nice day! |

you will have the open minded people and the close minded people. on a public forum you'll have both butting heads and it blows up to be something ridiculous. someone will voice their opinion and then someone will say they are wrong and disagree, then a second person will jump on that and etc etc until the thread is pages long about everyone talking about something completely off subject. |

Ya know, as I recall back, it was a "hurt feelings" thread just like this one that was the impetus for the first ever "Insult Martin Prince Contest" that Munchito won (jerk!). He won a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree for his diatribe that he still uses do this day. Then Prickly Pete guessed how many smarties I had in a dollar store coffee cup and won a Leg Lamp courtesy of our friends at Retro Festive. Insults produce great things..... great things I tell ya. *siiigggghhhhhhhh* |

I'm looking to see how many "hits" I can invoke for one post. Youtube pays me accordingly. T'will be most interesting to see the replies from those who partake. |

For someone who doesn't like insults, you sure don't mind giving them.... <edited by admin based on 'made up quotes' that weren't actually made but were offensive> - removed the made up quotes |

So there's that. |

Nope. I roasted a whole pig once, but do they call me Pete the pig roaster? Nope. But you 'Richard Gere' ONE hamster... "Pete the pig roaster" has a nice ring to it. I bet we could make it stick. |
