Hi all -- just this evening my washing machine has stopped spinning, and when it is supposed to spin there is an awful noise. I guess I'll need to have someone look at it, but I wanted to check to see if anyone here knows someone for a good price who does a good job. Bad things all seem to happen at once to people already down on their luck, and this is just the latest in a string of misfortunes and other truly bad things this year. :/ |

If its a few years old, its likely the bearing set. Its not usually worth repairing, i've had 2 front load machines expire the same way. |

If it's a front loader and it's stopped spinning it'll cost you $100 for the repair man visit and another 450 to fix the thing. Mine broke at the 4 year mark too. I purchased a brand new old fashion top loaded for $400 plus tax ~Love it, I really did not like the front loader |

+1 for Appliance Depot. They are prompt and reasonable cost for their work. Also, if the appliance is "toast", they have a good selection of refurbished appliances at much reduced over new costs. We were fed up with taking duvets for dry cleaning as the front loads won't handle those or towels very well. Bought a used commercial grade washer we put in the basement for $300 that works like a charm. AB |
