I too found it odd the breed wasn't mentioned.

I would imagine for $600 they would be registered purebreds, but the breed would probably help interested families.

That would be nice in a perfect world.

I'm sure these dogs are being bred to be sold, and not "family pets" that people are just making money off of.

Besides, when we looked into a rescue dog, MANY places have fees starting at $100 all the way up to $400. Now tell me someone there isn't making any money.

Besides, to each their own, a bred puppy that is now in the world deserves a home just as much as any other dog.

If the rescue places you are looking at are the human society, those fees are to cover the cost of checkup, shots, and a spay/neuter. As well as operating for costs for the shelter, and even then the fee is probably still less then the cost to the shelter, but they know if they charged more they would likely have to destroy the animal.

Now if you are seeing those fees from breed rescue programs (where breeders take in animals of that breed that are abandon, or abused.) They I can't account for there costs, but I'm sure much of the above is true. Now when you pay 500-1000 for a pure bred puppy/kitten, you have to see the animal is fixed after the fact, which is probably what makes up the lion share of the rescue fees. So those animals are truly sold for profit.

I agree totally.

There is nothing wrong with a rescued dog, the idea is really great. We've had many in our family.

I just don't think it's right to criticize someone who makes a post in the ADVERTISEMENT section of the forum.

If a puppy from a breeder isn't your cup of tea, then fine, get a dog from a shelter or whatnot, but you don't need to judge the person who is trying to make a living. I know some breeders who choose to breed dogs as a career to make money, but also because they LOVE what they do, and they truly love dogs.

There is so much judging on this forum, and in the advertisement section, it shouldn't matter what people want to offer for services.

I agree, your response makes me think I miss understood your post.

In any respect, my wife and I have 2 pure bred cats. But even I think were crazy, and I was the one who pushed for the second :)
