Yet a majority voted back in many of the same people. Nothing against Zeeshan directly here but across the province and here in Milton most if the incumbents were voted back in. <scratching my head>

Did you miss what Zee said a few posts up......

"Mike Cluett and us local councillors will be able to coordinate much better on timing of regional and local projects because with the previous elected regional councillor we couldn't get anywhere."

A polite way of saying Tony was the roadblock.

Moving to East Milton is the only way.

Unfortunately we aren't moving anywhere until after our twin boys are out of daycare. We spend more on daycare than almost everything else combined.

(Yes, it's still worth it for my wife to be working, we've done the math)

Louis St Laurent to Savoline should open by the end of the month.

All day I have been wondering why they couldn't have waited the few weeks until the bridge opened up from Louis St. Laurent to Savoline before they decided to gridlock all of west Milton.

My friend said there was an ambulance trying to get through that gridlock mess this morning.

Only in Milton.

It is unfortunate that everything bad will now be automatically blamed on Tony Lambert. What about our other Regional Councillor? What about our mayor? Blaming Tony now for everything is just a cop out and denying responsibility in the past.

Seems to be a common theme with Zeeshan and Cluett lately....blame others before them; previous councils/policies/by-laws whatever..... while at the same time back each other and say how great each is, along with Rick.

This project reminds me of the Thompson underpass. It would take 30 minutes to drive from Main to Derry Road. Fast forward to the Derry Road underpass and its the same result (actually worse) Everyone always says the same thing we learn from our mistakes and it won't happen again and it always does. Polticians always say things will be different if they are elected, but it doesn't matter who is power because its always the same result and nothing has changed the last 20 years and never will because thats how things are, everyone wants to change (i.e in the new year im going to the gym, im going to eat better) lasts a week then back to the same old. Nobody likes change especially developers, politicians etc. Everyone is to blame but in the end we all complain but nothing gets done and they all keep their jobs.

There was ample time to prepare for this underpass. Town council approved all the homes back in 2006, first people moved in 2008. At this time they could of coordinated the contruction of the homes and underpass together on a side note they also forgot to erect a sound barrier along Duncan Lane (Main to Derry). Fast forward to 2014 still no underpass, hundreds of homes built. Another observation LSL should of connected with Scott, and Savoline but will only connect at Savoline. Main Street West needed to be expand long before from Scott to Bronte and isn't supposed to be until next year.

The scary thing is if there is an emergency and you need to get over the hospital, well good luck.

I'm surprised they didn't schedule the Derry Road closure the same weekend as the Santa Claus parade.

Everyone is always going to blame someone else except themselves, it's always somebodys else's fault (that's politics)

It's the difference between those organizations spending their own money, and and those spending someone else's money.

LSL overpass is a mirage on the horizon like that oasis in the desert when you are dying of thirst. If it was being built by Mattamy and there was a family waiting to move in and live under it, we would have been driving over it 18 months ago.

The biggest problem I see Milton having is that we still think like a small town, not the fastest growing town in Canada (by percentage at least) - we wait until developer fees are in before spending/building anything. Adding many thousands of homes to SW Milton? wait until they are all built and developer fees are in before we expand Derry Rd. Imagine if they had done the underpass 5 years ago when only a few homes were built - many less issues in traffic. But we refuse to borrow to help manage growth - have to maintain that AAA credit rating, even though we never actually use it!

The other issue is that regional projects are managed by Halton, of which we have only 3 regional councillors.

That being said, Brampton went through something similar when they starting building on both sides of Airport Rd north of Bovaird. My inlaws lived there before moving to Milton, and went through a few years of construction hell before it was done (and then they moved shortly thereafter!)

So in summary - we wait too long to build, and then do 0 coordination between jobs - "let's close Derry Rd and Dymott exit to Tremaine at the same time, and not have LSL open until way afterward. Should be fine! " :-)

The work on Tremaine is the beginnings of the realignment project. They'll be digging at the intersection with Steeles soon, too. I think it's got the go-ahead at this stage to facilitate the building of a large park, and to create a setting for an exclusive residential enclave - quickly! before Tremaine becomes the "JSP West" attached to a 10-lane 401. Come back in 2031 for that.

The Main @ Bronte business appears to be the renovation of that old-timey 1963 rail overpass to accommodate a wider Main St. Only about 6 or 8 years past due, which is a major leap forward as far a planning goes here.

EDIT: Just checked the ToM site, the work on the rail overpass at Main is to accommodate pedestrian walkways, I see nothing about widening the road surface, but they seem to have enough room to jam a longer left turn lane in there??

Eventually, Main between Bronte and Scott will be widened to allow one middle turning lane. It will still be a one lane thoroughfare though.

It was actually his job though. Represent wards 1 6 7 8 at the regional level. Tough to do from prison.

From the railway and east, Derry Rd. is the border between the two regional "areas" or whatever they are called. Doesn't that mean that it was his (Tony's) job, but also Colin's job as well?
