maybe they will start a war with china...there is one way to clear the books of there "toxic waste"

otherwise it will take time and yrs a depressed levels of activity...ie. they will actually have to save alittle, how novel is that idea

but seriously, barring a civil war, caused by the assaination of Obama by some hick, nothing will cure a culture of greed and corruption.

its a god dam freak show down under and the next star being groomed for the white house is MITT ROMNEY....GOD PLEASE BLESS THIS HELL HOLE WE CALL AMERICA

Old Skool’s solutions would put the world economy’s fundamentals in order.

The other thing that needs to happen is for the people to realize that governments are only capable of runaway spending, and are incapable of delivering sound services. Their only purpose should be to regulate, and police. The government should not be permitted to tax for any purposes other than to run these core functions. Otherwise we’ll just find ourselves in this boat over and over again.

I'll agree we are in a recession but I'm not buying the depression theorists yet. Guess I'm a 'glass is half full' kinda guy. But what do I know right?

the board thanks you for keeping it contained in this thread.

fillerguy...you could be the best reverse indicator out there.
I see you've resorted to strictly critcizing those that offer intelligent, well thought out posts. I don't agree with everything in this thread but Ol skool has provided us with some great stuff. Pls provide me with some of your latest insights so I can make a killing going the opposite way. I'm not sure why you get so upset with people who simply have a differing opinion than you considering they're thoughts have proven quite accurate while yours have been a joke.

Don't be fooled by Charlatans who speak a few truths in order to lure you into believing their demented ideology.

example :

"Sadly, I agree with William here. WW3 is going to be the U.S. response to this crisis. And will attack either Iran or China as a last gasp to regain there dying empire. "

Doomers are attention whores. Using peoples fear in order to gain a stage to sell their agenda and twisted (and typically negative) views. They usually have some issue with the States, or capitilism, or consumerism.

You do the same thing by randomly popping into threads telling people their property prices are going down 50% and calling them names if they disagree with your negative view of the world.

9/10 Canadians are still working, most making very good money. Still paying their bills. Still paying their mortgages (go look at the CMHC default rates).

Standing in a crowded theatre yelling 'fire' makes you a dumbass. So does standing on a soapbox yelling 'we're all doomed' in a public forum.

Are times getting tough? absolutely, I've never denied that. Recessions are beneficial in that they clear out the dead wood (buh bye GM). Do I have sympathy for people who over extended themselves? no, but they are few are far between. Canadians are unbelievable cheap (people will drive across town to fill-up if the gas is a tenth of cent cheaper). This is my third recession and I've heard all you Doomers before and you've all been wrong. And you will be again this time round. The world won't stop spinning and society won't end.

But if you want to sit in your basement surrounded by tinned food & blankets clutching your gold coins waiting for the end, go for it. Do I think your f*cked up for doing that? Absolutely.

Mind you, you're all pretty tame compared to some of the people in the Kitco forums. THEY are WAY out there...

Oh, and for those of you gifted with the talent of predicting the future, you may want to contact James Randi Foundation as they've looking for someone like you.

filler,
Are you replying to me or OlSkool?
I'm not a doomer...really...
All I've ever said for the last few years is gee....real estate prices have CAGR'd 10% over the last umpteen years...prices are getting stupid.....yuppie wannabe Mcmansioners are using record amounts of leverage to finance their granite dreams.....mkts eventually revert to the fundamentals we're due for a big pullback....be careful. Wow was I ever off?

That opinion was met with skeptisicm and snarky comments from people like you....champion of oblivious, justagirl a bunch of others. No doom and gloom from me just giving an opinion. You'd think you would have enough integrity to admit you've been very wrong and give credit to those who, politely I may add, voiced their opinions.

Where are we headed next month filler? Looking to trade here....pls provide your latest thoughts.

I'm wondering what happened to this site? I thought people were allowed to voice their opinions in a mature manner? Now, I agree that fillerguy doesn't help his argument by resorting to name calling. It does no one any good on here to resort to name calling or threats (which I've received on here more than once for disagreeing with people's opinions/views).

In simple terms, I’m more of a 'glass half full' type and tend to agree with fillerguy in general, but I'm also willing to say that I could be wrong and that I don't have as strong a business background as some of the others on here. I've heard both sides of the story and conclude at the moment that we are not in a depression nor will be there in the future (IN MY OPINION). But does that make me a jackass or a loser or have to put up with threats? I sure don't think so.

I don't respond on this thread too often because like I said, not as strong a business background. But I listen to the news a lot, read up on the situation a lot, and take what others say on here with a grain of salt. I hope the depression theorists/doomers are wrong and I don't see it getting that bad. But if it does, you were right, I was wrong. I can live with that.

We're nowhere even close to a depression.
It's such an opaque term anyways.
In the 30's unemployment reached 25%.....soup kitchens everywhere
Who threatened you?.....btw...I'm saying this with a smile but you're as big a pot stirrer as anybody else on here.

The U.S. is in a depression and Canada is in a recession

We can all say adios to GM and Citi

we will easily hit Dow 6000 and like i said a few months back dow 5000 is a possibility here.

i suggest everyone look at those charts ol skool provided us and the Trump video i provided.

This is now starting to affect all of Canadas provincial pension plans...ie Quebec as of today, and Omers is probably down another 25%this yr alone...

there will be NO bounce , rest asured we will grind this out for a few yrs range bound....my guess, mid 5000 to low 6000
cash is still king as always

Haha, touche, I do stir the pot at times but I try my best to never resort to name calling, harassing, or acting like a child. Can I disagree and say I don't think the U.S. is a depression? Not yet anyway in my personal opinion. I'm curious to see what others aside from William (cause I know where you stand) think about the US being in a depression.
