ok no more decisions until i consult with chris ...
my buddy says the round corners dont look too nice with arched doorways (arched due to the double sided fire place upgrade :? ) but i think maybe a trip to cambride to see a modle home would be nice. #1, did you see any rounded corners when you went? i think the smooth ceilings is better done at the time of build. i've been reading the forum on hardwood floors, i think your big dog might damage your expensive floors, unles he's got booties to run around in inside the house lol.
anyways, off to work

oh btw you make 1 blanky you make us all blankies (i kinda like the colours you chose for yours)

Here are other pictures we took:

Angled tile and both walls have rounded corners

The rounded corners are just personal taste. I think it makes the walls look like playdough and I think they are more difficult to fix if they get damaged. Just not for me. The angled tile looks good. Our stairs in our current home are Oak, and they held up pretty good against the dog. Couple stairs need some re-varnishing. From what I hear Maple looks better, but is softer = more scratches. Another reason why we chose the Spicebush is the main floor has ALOT of tile. Our dog will not be allowed up stairs in the new house.

We chose round corner not only because we like it also we are going to have babies, we thought round corner may be safer when the little kids are running around in the room. :-)

Thanks for sending the pic of the fireplace, Amy! That's a great picture and really gives me an idea as to what it's supposed to look like. In the specs it says that the mantle is about 5.7 feet long, and Sal and I couldn't picture it being that long, but now seeing it, it actually looks good! Hmmm, I'm re-thinking about that stonework and just going for this traditional fireplace look...

As for the smooth ceilings, I also would like to get this done too before we move in, it seems like a pain to do it afterwards...

We went by the Mattamy office today...got the new price list, prices are up +$25k on all 43's. That's a nice return in one week:)

Also found out that there is a "nice young couple with kids" who bought the corner lot # 14. I asked who has lot #16 but they could not remember...sorry Amy, I tried to get some info for you but without much luck.

Also spoke with Intracorp yesterday. Confirmed that they will be building 40 and 50 ft lots behind us. Target release date is Feb/March 2010 with late 2011 closings. So we'll have to wait a year before we get some neigubours out back. In the meantime, we can find alternate uses for the muddy field...dirtbike racing, mud wrestling haha :)

Cyn & Kev: There is a Hazelnut that just got listed for resale for $570M. There is a virtual tour so it may be worth looking at to get design ideas.

Amy & Andrea: I am liking the fireplace. Alex really wanted that double sided fireplace. Unfortunately our house does not come with that option

yeah, i'm not feeling the rounded corners anymore.
thanks for the pics!
the mantle doesnt look too bad ... you guys think it would look funny if we had a mantle on one side (living room side) and flat on the other (dining room side, which will have stone slats all the way around the fire place and up to the ceiling)?
angled tile looks kinda nice!
wow, i cant believe the increase in price ... location location location. i think by the time we've been in our house after one year, it will have gone up 50k-70k. when intercorp moves in, we will see it increase substantially.
is there a new release this weekend?
i would love to have the mastiff! my dream dog! chris wont let me though :(

oh quick question for the 43' and 50's

are the doors on the main floor (because you guys have standard 9' ceilings) already 96" tall or is that an upgrade for you guys too?

i was just thinking about doing the powder room door only, but it would look funny if i didnt do the basement door and the garage door entrance.

I hope they put 43'-50' lots behind us. I'm already counting on my place being worth 50-100k more by 2011 base on the pricing in the area - 1241 Christie Circle selling at $750000

Andrea> yes, that's a Juneberry. I didn't get in (I'm not that brave) but someone from the "Juneberry" thread sent them to me.
I think we are likely closing int he wall above the fireplace. I was originally thinking to leave it open but looking at the layout of the room, if the TV is not hung above the fireplace, the furniture placement would be awkward, I think.

Diana> thanks for trying to find out! I'm starting to wonder if the lots next to us and across from us might be "flippers". I really hope not!

Sal> yeah, I'm agreeing. I'm not liking the rounded corners.
I don't think it would look funny to have it different on the other side. You can't see both sides at the same time and they can be different styles.
Yes, to the angled tiles. They make such a big difference. And I'm telling you, Sal, we'll sell you the bull mastiff really cheap (just no one tell Oliver, please!!) He really is a great dog but he drools, sheds, farts and snores! The dog came with the husband *sigh*
As for the doors, all the arched doorways are big but I'm not sure about the doors. From the pictures I've seen, our powder room door is not large.

Greg & Shannon> wow, that's an early closing date!

Cynthia> that school you are talking about is Escarpment View, I believe and that is the school that you will be in the cachment for. My son turns 3 in February so he has a while before school.

I just called Escarpment View PS today; our daughter turns three this December so she will be starting JK next year. Our closing is in November.

The registration starts the third week of January; they were not sure if they will have a full day kindergarten program. Most likely it will be an alternate days, with every other Friday.

I also called the YMCA before and after program, but I couldn't find out if the program will be at the school or at a different location. I believe this will make a big difference.

We are so excited that many kids in the neighbourhood are around our daughter's age :D

We're going on Monday to Cambridge too, I hope to get some good ideas.

Have a good night,

Cornelia

Has anybody looked at the intracorp website? I just looked at their soldout house designs in Brampton called 'Castles'. 3000-5000sq ft homes. That would be cool if they put those behind us, but probably not because there smaller lots.
