guys, we're a bit confused with the architect's options where we have within 14 days to choose .... are these structural options as well that we need to decide on now? ie double sinks, french doors, optional pantry, 96" colonial doors, etc
we chose from the "white" sheets that were handed to us the first day. looking at the paper work that we signed off on our structural upgrade, the double sinks are there along with the doors and pantry that we did not have on the original "white" sheets. sorry if this sounds confusing lol

You have to go to a photo hosting site. I use www.photobucket.com - its free. Get an account, upload your photo there. After the photo is uploaded, view your album, put the cursor over the photo you want to post or was just uploaded and it will show you 4 different links, you want the IMG code. Copy that code and paste it in the message. The image code will look like
[ IMG]http://i434.photobucket.com/albums/qq68/Totalpkg50/howtopostpics-1.jpg[/IMG ] <-- Something like that.

Yes, Oakville is expensive that is why we are moving to Milton and out of Oakville. We think Milton is the next Oakville but they don't know it yet so we get better prices and a beautiful environment to live in without the crazy prices!! :D I love Milton!! I love the escarpment.

Thats funny. I think Milton is the next Mississauga...went up the Escarpment today and found the bike\hiking trails of Kelso park. The view up there was nice...

Also went by the dirt pile. They started building the northbound Savoline road:

Dean: Great pictures you posted! We drove by yesterday and saw the street as well....slowly its starting to come along. We lost our digital camera this week so right now we are relying on the BB for photos but I think we'll need to pick one up soon to capture the progress (I'm not sure if I left it at one of the homes we visited :?:

Also wanted to share some info I got from the Natural Stone City place in Kitchener that sells granite.

1) What is cheaper, granite or quartz? And which holds up better for everyday use? Pros and cons of each?
Granite is less expensive compared to quartz. Both do are very similar in durability. The biggest difference from granite and quartz is sealing. Quartz you don't have to seal; granite you do. Sealing takes 5 minutes. Once a year.

Quartz is about 33% more expensive than granite. The choice is yours.
If you want to visit our showroom we can talk the pros and cons in more detail.

2) How much do you charge for the backsplash?
Tile backsplash like stone, marble, granite: installation is $15/sq ft
You can also install full granite backsplash (starts at $45/sq ft)

3) Is there a fee for removing the countertops? If yes, how much? Is it easier for you to install if the builder did not install the laminate counters?
No fee for removing the counters. If the builder agrees not to install the laminate counter then great if not we'll remove it.

4) Do you have any special prices on granite? We are just trying to determine if its better to have the builder install the granite or to go to a third party like yourself.
Yes we do see estimate below. We install granite 1 1/4" thick (standard thickness is 3/4" thick with laminated edge will give you a 1 1/2")

I need the layout or the rough measurements of
the counter for a more precise estimate.

In most cases, the kitchen will only have one seem.

This includes installation, faucet holes, the sink
cutout for undermount sink, the mounting of the sink
(not the plumbing) and no backsplash.

Also, Installation is done in 7 days after
measurement. It takes 3-5 hours to
complete the job on site.

Great pics, everyone.
Thanks for the info, D&A.

Andrea> go to www.miltonmoms.net and sign up there. It's an awesome free forum for milton moms and you will find a wealth of info on everything including Milton daycares and how to navigate the process. Including pros and cons of a centre vs. home daycare and lots of home daycare providers are on the site and can help you. I know a few of them and can give feedback if you decide to go that route. Good luck!

Amy~

Cynthia> oliver said that he'll camp out again next time with you and you can sell your spots in line to the highest bidders!

That's awesome about Elevation C. Sweet inlaws!

I have heard good things about Peekaboo in Milton. I don't know if it's everywhere but what I thought was really cool is that they have a webcam that you can access and see the daycare and what is going on during the day. That would give me a great sense of relief!

Amy- Thanks for the Milton Moms link- it looks like such a good site!

Cynthia- congrats on the new elevation- it's going to look awesome!! Thank-you for all the daycare info! I already put my name on the wait list:) Hopefully a year and a half should be enough time to get in  Are you in an Oakville Peekaboo? I put my name in for the maple and the Derry location.

Angelo and I are still debating about the 9 foot ceilings! I should have never agreed to go to Cambridge to see the model homes! He loves the 9 foot ceilings... what to do? I figure if we go with the 9 foot ceilings and I seem totally disinterested I can barter for an upgraded kitchen...lol!

Have a good day everyone!
Andrea

With the 9' ceilings second floor you have to account for the extra 1000' of air space that needs to be heated or cooled. The furnace and AC have to be selected accordingly. I'm not sure if the builder accounts for the 9' ceiling option on the second floor. Will probably have to look into it. I know when we went to Cambridge it made us think twice about the 2nd 9' ceilings. Still undecided but leaning towards the 8'.

Hello All!!

I saw the cambridge 9 foot ceilings and loved them. I am glad that I got them for upstairs as the hallway we have will be huge! I can't wait to see my bathroom. Question though, main floor bathrooms didn't have the 9 foot ceilings....why not? Will our Hazelnut have them or all of yours? I want a tall bathroom like the builder Arista has!!! They are awesome!!

Are you guys doing the doors as well? We came back from the decor store and they were extremely helpful. They gave us rough estimates on certain upgrades we wanted, which will help us determine our upgrades...

Just curious, any appliance recommendations? In our current house, we have a Kitchenaid Fridge (no issues), Sears dishwasher (no issues), GE Profile stove (cooktop hard to clean sometimes, otherwise no issues), and Maytag washer/dryer (no issues). Just curious what other people been using and experiences.

So we went to the sale centre tonight and completed the signing of our life away....
Confirmed the structural upgrades and Oliver won at rock paper scissors so we are getting the 9' ceilings. But doubt we'll get the larger doors. We were at my parents' yesterday and they have 9' on all floors with regular size doors and they look good.
Saw pink socks and family. It was pretty funny how quickly our sons made friends without any intervention on our parts. We were busy talking and they were soon fast friends.
Can we move in tomorrow? I can't wait!
