This deal looks good. Put us in for 2 but we have a few questions, what is included in the box and for what size door? Do you need to purchase a receiver to operate 1 controller on 2 doors? Are the accessories discounted? I'd rather purchase the accessories at the same time as the opener because they look to be expensive to purchase individually/separately. Maybe, we should also include what accessories we want in addition to what is included. Thanks for organizing this! Your awesome.... Keep pushing for a greater discount as the numbers increase don't be shy this person/company is going to make a ton of money from us....

There are 2 controllers that are included. Each controller has 4 buttons, so you can program 1 controller for 2 doors. They even have a cool setting to have the door open for ventilation. Watch all the videos, alot of cool accessories as well. The discount he gave me was preliminary. Once I get a final number I'll go back at him and try and get the keypad included, or more discount, or ??? I don't think there are any other accessories anybody wants.

BTW - I was considering getting the Sears belt drive GDO, only problem is they make them with a battery back up...which sucks...when this battery dies, it costs $80 for a new one. And I wasn't able to find out if you can bypass that battery back up and run the GDO without it, because I read reviews of the battery dying within 1 year of installation. I also read a review of how one person installed it and the battery leaked acid on to their car. The other reason I prefer the Sommer one is the lifetime warranty vs Sears 10 year warranty.

I asked Shane and Andrew at the framewalk: 3/4 HP is more than enough for a double door.

Few Questions:
When I have to pay for it?
Can anybody install it for me, i mean will there be any deal to install this car garage door opener? If Dean can negotiate the installation as well?
Waranty - Life Time warranty means any damagaes the company will come and will fix it for me.
Let me know.
Thanks

- when the order is finalized, I am gonna work out something with the company, but it will pay when we order.
- I'm not sure if install is available. I've installed other brands of GDO's and its not difficult.
- Warranty - you'll have to contact the company, not sure...buts its only 1 moving part.

#1, it is great to have to check up on everything they are doing.
But I went by tonight, and the exterior of your house looks beautiful!
Issues we are dealing with and that others might want to look out for:
-washer and dryer positions reversed (we've been told "too bad")
-in the basement, there is a support beam right in the middle of our large double lookout windows (we had to pay the premium to have the windows) It's rather frustrating to have one completely blocked when moving the window over 6 inches, would likely have resolved the issue (builder said, "too bad").
-we were assured at our DC appointment that all of our basement windows would be operational due to having a lookout basement(or we would have paid extra to have them that way) but some of the windows aren't. We have been told that they changed the type of window so it changed. We raised a fuss and a few weeks ago, they agreed that they would make all of our windows operational but they still have not been changed.

I have emailed Mattamy customer service several times and initially, and eventually, I got a response, but the last two emails I sent, there has been no reply in several weeks. I guess they likely wait to see if you will just give up.

Not looking forward to when the pretties start getting put in if I have to watch what they are doing. :?

Thats probably why Mattamy doesnt care that we go into the house as its being built. They dont monitor whats happening at your house and avoid your calls. Only you as the homeowner are checking to make sure everything is done proper.

Excuse my ignorance, what difference does it make if they're reversed?

So, I was checking out garage door openers and found this:

http://www.sommer-usa.com/

German made and super quiet. I'll be looking into it for sure. I think most people have rooms above their garage so its important to have a quiet door opener. Especially if you have babies/children.

I may start a group buy, just curious to see if anyone is interested. Not sure on pricing yet, but at Home Depot in the States, it sells for $228 US.

Life time warranty to boot

How much are the savings with the group purchased? Secondly has anyone installed these?

Just makes it harder to transfer from washer to dryer if switched because the way the doors open. Washer should be on the left (door opens to the left) and dryer on the right (door opens to the right - but most models on DRYER only allow door reversal - so if you stack them they would open the same way).

Regular in Canada is $289.

I've done some research into the Chamberlain and Sears GDO's - belt drive only, and lotsa issues, only 10 yr warranty. Not to mention they have battery back ups, which sound cool at first, but if you have to keep replacing a battery every year which cost $80, will get quite expensive and annoying. Check Homedepot.com and check the reviews...

On another note, Mattamy emailed me and told me they will be removing the tile and fixing all the tile issues. I guess once it gets done I'll believe it, but I'll take a wait and see approach right now...

I have just purchased 2 garage door openers at Sears for $289 each (belt) after $140 off. I may be tempted to return them if someone has installed these garage door openers and are satisfied with them.

When are you planning of ordering them?
