Over the course of this winter, MY dog barks non-stop when she's outside. Like constantly. And she doesn't have to be out for long. A couple of minutes and she starts. And she barks loud and quite menacingly, if I may add. A leaf moves and she starts. Someone walks by, she goes ape-sh!t. A car passes, she loses it. Many people walk by with their dogs and she absolutely freaks out, like she wants to kill the dog and the dog owner.

Can any dog owners out there gimme an idea of how I can get her to STFU? Summer is right around the corner and I don't want any by-law officer coming over.

P.S. I won't hit her nor will I use a shock collar either but any other suggestions will be appreciated.

I'd take it to the Oakville Humane Society.

Leave the gate open so she can go home with someone passing by like she is asking them for.

We tried an empty beer can with some coins in it and shake the heck out of it. Stops him most times.

We may have to go the bark collar route, as there are little kids next door and we don't want the barking to wake them up in the evening.

Just let her back in when she barks? My dog barks to let me know she wants in.

RH + Norts...no!

CupcakeMommies...the pain in the butt stands at the fence and loses it...I wish it was cause she wanted to come in.

I'm gonna try the spray bottle but with my luck, she'll turn it into a game and the barking will continue. I bought the vibrating collar when we lived in an appartment in Toronto and it worked until she realized what it was and turned it into a game.

We were recommended a bottle of compressed air called pet corrector. It's under $10 at Pet Valu. Works wonders. There comes a time when they just see the bottle and they will stop the behaviour you are correcting.
Good luck.

I'm no dog expert but maybe you could put a muzzle on her.

I always thought Dogs were a reflection of their owner. Heehee.
My dads sheepoop had the same problem, he got a collar that sprayed lemon mist in the mutts face every time he yapped. He smells like citrus, but well behaved. Best of luck!

Andy...muzzles don't stop the barking and also, she's a bulldog with a massive underbite...their faces aren't made for muzzles.

I'm gonna try the pet corrector bottle of compressed air.

You're going to make it so your dog can't breathe while you spray it in the face because it's trying to communicate?

That's disgusting.
