Charging for parking at the GO station is just another way of increasing the cost of commuter transit.
If they think it will cause people to take the bus they're out of their minds. It may cause people to drive to kipling and take the subway instead, but the bus?... I seriously doubt it.
You could pay me $5 per ride and I still won't take the bus. It takes too long, too far to walk, don't want to wait outside in snow or rain, and don't want to put up with the milk run multiple stops once I am on it. Okay so the last part is a non issue in Milton since the buses are always empty so it's probably pretty much a straight shot anyway, lol, but there's always still the chance of a milk run. But mainly I remember when I first started working and could afford to buy my first car, being so happy that I'd never in my life have to take the bus again, and have zero desire to go back to my bus-taking student day ways. I imagine many people feel the same.
This isn't an "if you build it they will come" situation. Milton is a fairly affluent town, and no amount of enticement will induce a large swath of the population to get on a bus. It's just delusional to think otherwise.
