Told by Colin it's fencing put there by the property owner who also owns the "Oddfellows" house at the back there. You'll notice if you're down there on foot there's fencing up the back making it impossible to pass through.

As stated in the article. This person is exercising their rights as a property owner.
I don't see an issue here. No laws have been broken. I would do the same if it were my property. I would take precautions to protect myself from potential law suits should anyone get injured on my property. Its just a wooden fence.

For me, I think 'future development' or,'construction site' when I see that.... which is actually a GOOD thing for our downtown! To me, that is actually not an eyesore at all. A small dose of 'big city' feel in our town, to me shows life. Even though nothing is happening there right now, this doesn't bother me one bit.
Cutter, how are we supposed to know which live bands are playing without 40 copies stapled up side by side? Hehe

Paint the fence?
But that is private property and the fence was put up by the property owner. Why should people make it their business to paint a fence that doesn't belong to them and of which they did not pay for?

The title is misleading - when I read "boarded-up property" I was expecting a building with boards over the windows and doors. This is a fenced lot. Not sure what people are complaining about.

The only people who have any right to an issue are the people who own the Chinese restaurant who cannot access or use the side door of their business. They should work out an access arrangement with the lot owner (locked gate, perhaps), but other than that, I see no problem here.
