Oh wow...what drama. You're shitting on me for finding and keeping $100 yet you had no problem telling someone on this forum to go f**k his dead mother. You angel, you.

I too would have kept the $100. Its not like you were in someone's house and you saw it on the floor, you were at Sears in the mall...the guy behind the counter or in the back office could have kept it himself for booze and whores after you turned it in.

To feel extra good and have a clean conscience, you could have paid for a poor price matchers groceries to keep Princess happy and ontime to her next thing.

Ha, that's a joke. This is Wal-Mart, right? I worked there at one point and if you steal anything, even gum, you're fired. If a customer steals, we're supposed to greet them without confronting them about stealing so they feel guilty (which is so likely).

No, but not because I'm above saving money, I just like to spend my money at stores that pay their employees a living wage.

What do you consider to be a living wage? And which retail stores pay such a wage to their employees?

I think in Ontario it's around $17-$20/hr
Costco pays their employees well and provides health benefits.

That's way above, living wage is the *minimum* required to meet basic needs
A full time employee making $20/hr is way above minimum (not well off by any stretch of the imagination but can easily save at that point)
Even at $17 you are still in the $40,000 range

Many retail locations pay living wages (even Walmart does despite publics general hatred, since they provide same health benefits Costco does & offer employees deep discounts on merchandise as well as extras like stock). Walmarts main issue is they try to use part time workers more frequently than someone like Costco does (and part times get nothing for benefits)

The INTENT part is the sticker
Good luck on any retailer proving you meant to steal merchandise when a cashier forgot to ring it through

Walmart has a hard enough time getting cops to even take cases where someone has done a blatantly obvious theft attempt (eg putting jewelery into a cereal box, putting shoes into a piece of luggage etc)

I know a guy who worked loss prevention at Vaughan Walmart & quite frankly it was just sad (and sometimes ingenious) some of the ways people try to steal things
Its funny because its usually the young teens who get scared into confessing, the adults are usually pros at what they do

Yeah, exactly. Employees need a "living amount of hours." Also, Wal-Mart employees do not get a steep discount. It's 10%, which is okay but it doesn't really make up for the sh*t pay IMO.

Naw they get way better
Every employee is an avid price matcher (kind of funny they pick employers pocket, but once its known you will see employees stock up)
They also get first dibs when head office sends down new pricing (eg if something is getting cleared out, usually people like us never see it because all bought by employees in early morning)
Plus they have sample sales (which are insanely cheap, if you go even once a year you have no reason to shop Costco ever)

Another reason for you price matchers to get there right when they open.

So you expect us to be at the store every morning in case something is going to be cleared out. I don't think so.

I worked there, but I suppose you know more than me about working at Wal-Mart.

Clearance is never advertised hence never price matched
Usually 50%+ discount off retail

Well if you hadn't been fired for stealing a pack of gum there would be less hurt feelings I am guessing

I'm going to start taking pictures of the price matchers with my cell phone. How do I post them here?
