Coming from a business perspective, a good gas station and strip mall would be nice along Tremaine between Derry and Steeles ALL WAY STOP coz that area is going to be a crawl to the ground halt when trucks invades that Tremaine north/south bound route.... I can certainly see vehicles backup from Martin/Steeles - Tremaine/Steeles..............

And ofcourse another round at Velodrome roundabout as they might as well put a drive thru on each corner....

Looks like it will fit right into the community and will blend in perfectly with the Escarpment.
Oh, wait, they didn't show any images of the long lines of trucks waiting to get in and our of the facility. Of their vision of the surrounding rub n' tugs or the area for the lot lizards to apply their trade with the waiting truckers.

Oh joy, we don't have a strip club, but just wait, Milton will now be a major player on backpage.

Wow, look at the plan design from this website. The facility goes right up to britannia, right by tremaine and bronte. So close to so many planned and existing housing. The noise pollution is going to be brutal for residents.

So rub n tug jokes aside, there will certainly be spill off industry in the area as a result of it (rub and tugs). What else was the land planned for in the adjacent areas? Because rail support and goods moving industry will require space in the area as well.

Ya know, for rub and tugs and stuff.

Zeesh, Is there any alternate locations they could use in the area, or is this pretty much their only option?

Railways get special treatment. They are exempt from everything. My family in in the drycleaning industry and they used to rely on a really nasty cleaning solivent called Perc. The stuff cleans anything, but it’s toxic as hell. The government ratcheted on so many environmental regulations that the industry moved to more expensive but cleaner technologies. You don’t see Perc used in drycleaning anymore.

The railways use the stuff to clean their trains. They just hose them with it like it’s water. It blows my mind.

I am just curious about the Town's master plan. If they knew the land was owned by CN, were they actively negotiating with CN to purchase this land, and if not, they had to have had some idea of the kinds of ideas on what CN would use the land for. If that was the case, why focus on residential, so close to the CN owned land?

Don't get me wrong, I am against it being built in that location, however, please help us understand the planning methodology that was used for Milton's master plan? Did we actually have qualified individuals involved in the development of the plan, or was it the current Engineering department along with our awesome Mayor. Guarantee Hazel would come out, guns blazing.

I see one of the problems here (compared to Oakville and Mississauga shelving the gas plants) is that we do not have the financial clout as other regions.

The pictures on that web site make it look so pretty and benign. I’m sold! Smiling kids, jobs, bike paths!

Ours will be way nicer then Bramptons! We don’t even need that huge truck trailer parking lot across the street. Suck it Brampton! Nope, ours will look JUST like the photos on the web site, and nothing like this:

So is there a way the town can play hardball?

Could the town say upfront that it will refuse to rezone any of the land around the yard so that no support type business can sprout next to it?

I'm not sure if that would be feasible, possible, or just make things even worse. I'm just tossing ideas out.

Why doesn't the town trade them land in the industrial area of Milton to build this thing?

How about making it illegal for heavy trucks on the square block of roads bordering the intermodal? Box them in. Now thats playing hardball!!!

Now I understand why the Town built James Snow Parkway, and why it has so many lanes
