Maybe we can convince them to pay for weed control in Milton parks as well.

I think the rainbows that will emanate from this complex are designed to help the grass out compete the weeds through the whole town.

I used to walk into the shadow of beautiful escarpment view surrounding me, Simply can't deny how I'm always amazed that I'm nested, cuddled and shadowed by all these green tall forest mountain pride and the envy of all around me, I proudly brag myself that I am a Miltonian breathing life into this little town I call my beautiful home filled with glorious history. The peace and whisper of tranquility simply smooth's my senses. There is no better feeling than walking into the great woods while greeted with beautiful gracious colored birds I would always feed... I am now sad to say the beauty of my pride endangered and straddled with never ending surprise is about to end as my little beautiful town slowly fades away into the musty and foggy reality, a fog I can't say whether it's a cloud of destruction that my town who dared to protect could not simply do much anyways...

I beg you all brother and sisters, please fight with me, let us not walk away with our head down, let's stand tall for everyone who shares the same pride.. We don't have to be like them around us, we can be different as for whatever they say we must become.. The choice is ours to make, the battle is ours to win and one day we will be back to say we are Miltonians nestled in this beautiful town...

Fight my friends, do not just let them win.. We have been given this gift from nature and it's our job to fight and win in return...........

Well damn if that ain't the prettiest logistics hub I ever did see, I'm sure once it's built it'll be a major picnic spot for families, what with their fancy bike paths & everything.

I'm sure I've seen heavier loads of BS than this but none within recent memory.

Zeesh, Is there any alternate locations they could use in the area, or is this pretty much their only option?

Maybe this is another project, like the power plant, that could be moved north of the 401 to Halton Hills.
Jobs would still be accessible for Milton and I expect Halton Hills would like the taxation.

Even north of 401 in Milton is fine. That is the industrial zone

North of 401 is perfect, tons of access and does not crosses thru town.....

Now I understand why the Town built James Snow Parkway, and why it has so many lanes

It also explains why Tremain rd got a "Large" round about, instead of 3 way stop and will be getting an access ramp to the 401. Did the Town know this was coming long ago

As for the lands north of the 401, if there is an area large and flat enough also available for trade then sure it’s a better fit.

But why has the town waited on getting this done

CN may be able to bypass municipal/region laws but the trucks/ trucking companies are not CN and are subject to the laws. Maybe the loader/unloaders from the train are also not CN. Theres many other required services that are not CN. The town can do something to disrupt them somehow, effectively crippling the operation at the intermodal. The mayor should then present this plan of action to the shareholders of CN, who will see the monetary impact of this disruption and then hopefully relocate it to the industrial area where it has the towns support.

So far I do not know how to flight with CN and get support from the town. We just put our comments here? Is there a way to push the town to deal with it?

Community meeting - March 24. Check www.ward8.ca for details. You can present your ideas in fighting this to the councillors or just to get more info. You have support from the town since all the councillors and the mayor are against it. I'm sure they have a game plan, but if anyone has a good idea, we'd all like to hear it.

Mail threatening letters to town staff. They take you more seriously if you include photos of their kids walking to school.

Location: Milton
I share many of these same concerns and am also skeptical of the information presented this morning (as well as the way it was presented). This is not an ideal location for anyone other than CN to build this facility, plain and simple. There are other locations that would be mutually beneficial, and be less disruptive to our residents, and our town. I'm also concerned about the "1000 direct and indirect jobs" projection. Taking truck drivers into account, existing CN employees, and other qualified individuals across the GTA who will be more than welcome to apply, when it comes down to it the big question is: How many jobs will actually go to Milton residents? There are some undeniable benefits in having this facility in our town, but with the interests of our residents in mind, I just can't get behind this project as it's currently proposed. I am very much hoping that CN's pledge to work with the community on this is not just an empty statement. There's a huge difference between fielding the concerns of our residents, and actually listening, taking them to heart, and making the necessary changes to alleviate them. Time will tell how truthful the statements made today really are, and until then I'm being cautiously optimistic.

You can learn more about the project from CN's perspective at http://www.cnmilton.com

You can also follow and tweet to https://twitter.com/CNandMilton and https://twitter.com/CN_Comm to voice concerns directly to CN (or by email to milton@cn.ca) and get updates, as well as of course contacting your local councillor to provide us with your questions, concerns, and insight.

CN will be opening an information centre at 61 James Snow Parkway - Suite 202
Official opening Saturday, March 28 from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM - so get your questions, comments, and concerns ready.
