Scum of the earth, these people.

Undoubtedly.I first encountered the Nigerian Scam when sorting mail for
Post Boxes in Milton Mall back in 1989.Back then they actually were letters addressed to people originating in Nigeria.

I'd sent in something to the Hamilton Spectator's "Too Good too Miss" charity events section and it appears the scammers are targetting charity events pages now.

My dear, I sent this mail praying it will found you in a good condition of health, since I myself are in a very critical health condition in which I sleep every night without knowing if I may be alive to see the next day. I am Mrs. Margaret Ragnvard a widow, I am suffering from a long time cancer of the Lungs i cannot communicate with you through phone because the cancer has affected my hearing ability and my brain, from all indication my conditions is really deteriorating and it is quite obvious that, according to my doctors they have advised me that I may not live too long, this is because the cancer has gotten to a very bad stage. Ah,but have you ever wondered about the original
Nigerian "scam-tale" and who was its author?

The field of folk tale studies does have various tale-types,motif indixes and various scholarly tools researchers use to puzzle out the
family relationships of folk-tales.

The Nigerian scam-tale is just another folk-tale,so those various literature tools should be useful to trace the family tree of the scam-tales
and possibly shed some light on who the authors of those gmail accounts are.

Are all Milton seniors who learn and use Social Media
( emails,etc) for the first time
already knowledgeable about the Nigerian Scam-Tale?

This has nothing to do about seniors learning to use social media or the internet. Nigerian scams have been operating and reported in the news and by police for well over 20 years. Most people know (or should know)about these scams by now, unless of course they have been completely out of touch or living on another planet all that time.
