Let me get this straight: those unable to find a parking spot at the GO station somehow feel entitled to park at Loblaws? As if Loblaws has an obligation to provide GO parking spots? NOT.
Why don't you direct your anger and frustration at the two parties that matter: Metrolinks and Town Council. Flood Metrolinks with phone calls, organize a protest, have public information sessions, etc. Of course you are going to say that this will not result in Metrlinks action, but who knows, keep up the pressure and you never know what might happen.
And what was Town Council done for you, either past, present or future? Where is the motion passed by council unanimously demanding action by Metrolinks? Threatening action like NOT completing road access to the Velodrome, or withoulding permits to occupy the Velodrome, or blockading it for the duration of the PanAm games? Call it guerrilla politics, but I bet you would get some results. And where is the leadership from our mayor in all this! His "proven leadership"? His many contacts gained over the life of his mayoralty? He needs to be front and centre, but seems to be missing in action.
If you want something bad enough, you must be willing to fight for it, rather than just complain to a dead horse. But don't blame Loblaws.
This.
I can't believe how many people on here have an issue with Loblaws over this. Seriously. And good luck with Metrolinx (with an 'x'). They don't care. I have a friend who works for them and I can tell you their long-term strategy is to build multi-level parking garages at GO sites (that'll enhance the view of the Escarpment!) and, the best part: they plan to eventually start charging for parking. So, you think the situation is untenable now??
Have fun, commuters - this town is screwed. Whether you drive or take transit, things are not going to get better here for a looooooong time, if ever.
