It opens again at 8pm tonight. So tonight's commute home will be brutal as well.

If history repeats itself, this will be open before the evening rushour, so that they can get the pats on the back for being "finished early", earning goodwill after the obvious poorly planned disturbance, even though the buffer was built in all along. Sorry to be the cynic.

According to my wife, it's still not open. Though that was 10 minutes ago, so maybe it is now?

I was thinking the same thing this morning while again running by cars at a complete standstill, both at the roundabout and then on Main pretty much from Savoline all the way to Bronte. Why aren't the cops out there directing traffic? Or at the very least, couldn't the timing on the lights at Bronte/Main have been changed to allow more than a few cars through at a time?

I was thinking the same thing; if the town knew about the road closures, couldn't they have programmed the lights to be changed for the four days this was happening? I sat a few times on Scott in full traffic waiting for the light to change on Derry while one or two cars passed by. You would think that by now the town could be smart enough to do this after a few road closures.

I apologize for forgetting to post here sooner.

Derry Road is closed this weekend (until Monday night) to allow CN to move tracks to the new bridge. Halton contractor is working on the second phase of the storm tank installation among other activities.

Louis St Laurent to Savoline should open by the end of the month. Stretch between Savoline and Tremaine will take longer due to the installation of sanity sewers near the pumping station.

Give yourself plenty of time to get around.

Zeeshan

Zeeshan, on Friday you made the above post. Today on your blog, you posted:

"When will this nightmare end?
Derry Road will re-open today. Louis St Laurent bridge will open up to Savoline by the end of the year. By coming summer, the underpass, Tremaine stretch will all be done."

Did things get delayed again over the weekend?????????? Can anyone actually give a date for construction that is accurate at all? Hands up if anyone actually thinks Dymott will be open by Dec. 30 (signs in the area) or even Dec. 31st (Halton website.)

Forget Toronto needing a traffic Czar - Milton needs one. Maybe then we can actually get some communication between Region and Town? I blame all of Tony, Colin, Gord and Brian at a minimum for this, but to be honest, I also blame Mike and Zeeshan. Zeeshan, you are the Ward 8 Councillor, but never thought to ask about potential road closures and how they would impact your residents? Mike, you have been running for Local/Regional for (unofficially) well over a year, and were a local councillor for last 4 years - aren't these the types of projects you guys should be asking about in both your former and current jobs (for Zeeshan, one and the same.) I voted for both of you, but maybe I am starting to regret it........

If Colin actually came around the board anymore, I wold bug him a lot more as well - tweeted yesterday that they should open early "depending on weather" - beautiful November day today, so weather wasn't a factor, but here it is 6:20, still not open.......

Zeeshan, come on. We appreciate the response, but really, you're a second term councillor now, it's time to put on your big boy pants and respond to the tough questions - like Martin capper's post. Either that or just call yourself Colin Best Jr. and we'll all lower our expectations of you in terms of responding to your constituents here.

Are there going to be anymore full road closures in 2014 or 2015. If there is let's start spreading the word now. It's a great conversation starter.

Omg it's a road closure and you guys lose your heads.

I agree there should be better communication, but it's also your due diligence to continue to read the Milton website for road closures and find alternate routes.

I also agree it was really bad planning, but at least it's finally getting done. But in the end, Milton is one big construction zone, deal with it.

There will be at least one closure for sure in 2015.

Sounds like you're not from the West end nor sat in traffic for 1.5 hours to travel 2-5 km .... we only ask for a heads up to plan our lives around the construction.

We've been looking at things like the surrounding homes and schools built, the velodrome built and Tremaine widening well on it's way while the underpass remains "to be built" or "under construction". Having to actually ask for better plan and communication is what should warrant "Omg", not our response.

Getting actually into the side streets was the hard part. Yah, with cars in front and behind me, as far as the eye can see, I'm sure we were all thinking how to get unstuck from where we were and try another route ... it really illustrated just how many people live in the West end. Scary to see what the roads will look like after 5 years when those 6,000 homes get built between Tremaine and Bronte, all the way down to Britannia

I do live on the west end, right on Derry.
