my friends in condos complain that they are too small. Its the same thing. It all comes down to the same thing, if you want a bigger place, get a better job. If you cant get a better job and don't like the size of the place you can afford, stop whining.

It's a situation that has gotten worse over time. And FYI, I have a well paying job that I like (do you ?) and I'm considering a move... but thanks for the comprehensive advice !

I guess you've never written your MP or lodged any form of complaint before !?
Can I have one of your happy pills ?

of course its got worse over time. Everyone is moving into the GTA from other parts of Canada and the world. Add to that the children of those already living here are moving out and buying their own place, also in the GTA. The price goes up, new builds try to keep prices low by cramming as many homes into one farm. Or would you prefer $2 million homes in a bigger lot?

Housing prices will continue to rise as the GTA and surrounding areas are Canada's highest growing areas. Most immigrants move here. Everyone wants to live as close to the GTA as possible. That's why so many people choose Milton (since closer to Toronto costs more).

There are options to get a larger place with the same cost. Unfortunately they involve moving further away.

Thanks for the newsflash !
You hit the nail on the head... overpopulation... "cramming as many homes into one farm" without the infrastructure to support it will come home to roost.

There are other options for me, who's tolerance has been influenced by the change. At this point I'd prefer an older home with some breathing space between houses, not necessarily rural.... I'm working on it. The size of the home is somewhat irrelevant.
