Organized in a box or not, no animal shits in my house and lives. Thats the rule.

Dog crap in the yard sucks, but only until I mow the lawn.

I would like to announce to the masses that I'm elated that my neighbour has brought the wait time down from 4 days to 3 days for bringing in his recycling boxes.

whenever I think I've read the most useless thread/topic of all time, someone surprises me again.

Geese? they're fine. Now the rabbits are not, very anti-social won't talk to me, very rude.

Not only are cats incapable of barking, but they organize their own feces in a dedicated mutually agreed-upon location, as opposed to all over the goddamned place.

That, people, is the perfect house pet.

+1

And they don't constantly need attention either.

Which is awesome, because people certainly don’t get pets so they can interact with them. People would much prefer their animals hide under the bed, with the only indication that they are still alive being a box of warm sh*t in the basement.

Cats are every bit as sociable as dogs, in their own feline way. The image of the aloof detached arrogant cat is a myth. They're sucks, every last one of them. And they rule, btw.

If a cat (or even dog) hides and does not socialize with other critters in the house, there's a problem. Sometimes it's a shitty owner problem, ie: someone who just shouldn't own pets.

My mother in law has a cat that I have seen once in the past 13 years.

I had a friend who had to warn us not to go into the dining room because the cat would kill us. The thing would hide under the table and anyone who stepped within a foot of the table lost a pinky toe.

There's plenty of crazy dogs out there too, but the ratio of schizophrenia between cats and dogs is 1000:1. They're the mad hatters of the animal kingdom.

Agreed! My cats don't like other people much and usually hide when people are over. They love us, though, just as much as any dog would.

Its interesting to see the full gamut of cat behaviour. We have 2. Both are sociable and will come to the front door every time someone knocks or opens inside. They come and greet you, look up and rub against your leg a couple times and they are comfortable. We've never seen either of our cats go and hide.

They've never bitten or scratched either of us or anyone we know. Closest thing to that is one of them being startled by a loud sound while behind held or sitting in our laps and their claws come out when they jump and run away.

They balance their time between sleeping, making their own fun (chasing each other or toy mouse around the house), or they jump up on your lap and curl up with you for hours. If you have to get up to do something, they aren't constantly hounding you for attention.

Most of the dogs on our street, including the people who back onto us, are pretty good about keeping the barking under control. The recycle bins are definitely more of an annoyance for sure!

What I'm saying is that I'd rather get a pet to "constantly" interact with, as opposed to "never" interact with. Comprehension is also a good skill to acquire.

This argument is stupid anyways. Fish are the best pet. When you realize they're more effort than they are worth, you can just flush em and sell the equipment.

It's not one or the other. There are plenty of affectionate cats, as you can see from the other comments, but they don't constantly need you to interact with them. Realistically, a person with a life will have to do things other than playing with their cat or dog, so a cat doesn't require as much constant attention as a dog.

Why have a pet if that's your attitude? Fish are kind of an interesting pet, because we both kill fish for food and keep them as pets. People like to justify loving cats and dogs because they're cute and they have a personality but they kill livestock and fish because they don't and therefore deserve to be killed. With fish, that kind of destroys that entire argument. None of them have much personality, except maybe betta (which isn't a very pleasant personality) and yet we both eat them and keep them as pets. Sorry for the tangent, just an interesting thought. I think people should either think all animals are beneath us and we should kill them (like Chinese people) or all animals are our equals and are entitled to the right to live. The moral disconnect bothers me. At least you are morally consistent in thinking that all animals are beneath us, judging by your fish comment.
