What's with all the statistics-toting apologists? Bottom line, this is a huge amount of money being flushed down the toilet, no matter how it's couched in percentage-of-a-total statistics.

As of March 30th 102 MW of microFit was in operation in Ontario. That is less than 0.5% of our overall demand ...
That's one two-hundredth of a ginormous number.

From the Globe and Mail:
Energy Minister Chris Bentley says green energy accounts for only about five per cent of the increase in electricity bills.
*Only* five per cent? Five percent of the cumulative cost of every single home and business's electrical bill in a year is.... well, I don't know what it is but for sure it is A FRICKING LOT OF MONEY.

He says the largest part of the hikes, which are expected to total 46 per cent over five years, are to pay for much needed upgrades to the province’s electrical grid.
Now some people I know will automatically discount that statement because it's a Liberal minister. But I don't doubt it. Upgrading an aging transmission and distribution system is not cheap!
I don't discount it because it's from a Liberal minister. Well, okay, yes I do. But that's not the only reason.
Mainly I discount it because it has nothing to do with the price of tea in China. He's playing sleight of hand, trying to get us to take our eye off the ball. So the grid needs to be upgraded ... okay, fine. Why does that make it okay for them to cause 5% energy hikes (aka a fricking lot of money) for their pet projects? Answer: it shouldn't. And we shouldn't let them get away with changing the subject.
